Was this a rare item? I used to save up any little bit of money i could find to buy each of the figures when i was a kid, by the time christmas came around i had Mario, Luigi and Denis Hopper. Then my mum got me this car and few of the other toys for christmas. Still got most of the figures and the car, only Ive lost the doors plow.
@SeamusHobo yeah this police car is extremely rare and difficult to find. It pops up once in a blue moon on ebay. Most people never even knew this toy existed haha. If you do find the missing pieces to yours it would definitely be a great collector's item for you :)
It looks like you found how the fungus cord kind of "clips" onto the back of the car. It'll hang, but definitely not for running it off the side of a table.
Know what I want to see? TWO of these things running into each other and exploding.
yeah man! I saw where it goes then I was like "How the hell do you secure it...ohh... I guess you don't" lol I like the instructions even make it seem like it's not very reliable with it's "before trying this stunt" warning.
@Phlibbit Yeah I agree!! seeing two of these crashing into each other would be amazing!! This video gives me hope that there are more of them out there
thanks man! Strangely enough, I used my childhood Mario and Luigi as stunt doubles since they already have a good deal of paint wear!
The car looks like it was designed to take a beating but I was still very careful like the fungus cord isn't very trustworthy running a car over the edge with it. The shot of the car falling was actually me pulling and holding it so there was no danger of falling lol
I too, don't see it that bad. Indeed, the musical score was great and to be honest, when I was a kid, I watched it and didn't even had the sense of it being cheesy. It was just a movie with fantasy elements :).
DARYL! I agree. I still don't know how so many people expected a literal translation. Let the movie fail on it's movie making merits rather than "There's no turtles, little goombas in a happy grass land"
I believe it about merchandise. Ya know they really believed in it when they set it up for a sequel "this can't miss!" lol
I guess they only made like half the money the movie cost back
I didn't show it too good, it came with the car, it is a cord that has suction cups that attach and you're supposed to roll the car off the edge and its stored in the back compartment of the car. As far as I can tell, it doesn't lock into place any sort of way.
It's a bit of a risky thing to really do. It really is likely to fail and the car will fall lol so it's a bit hard to trust the fungus really!
actually, all things considered... if they had chosen to go in any other marketing direction than "Super Mario Bros." this movie could've been big. It could've gotten it's own Direct To Video Sequel! WHERE'S MY PIZZA?!
I had/have mario, but I never got any other figures. That movie was so good for what it was, and this video shows how good the soundtrack was. And apparently, that the merchandising department spent more money than the movie made...
glad you enjoy toys like they're supposed to be.... OUTSIDE THE BOX. :)

They coulda just kept it in production longer, but no the failure of the movie just had to halt production, didn't it?

now that I think of it. It would be awesome to see a chase scene with this car and the ECTO-1!!
If I had this car I'd do it with either the Party Wagon or Foot Cruiser :)

I can't believe they actually made toys from the Super Mario Bros. movie. xD

D: Toys from the Super Mario Movie, holy crap, especially considering that most people loathed that movie.
I did think their version of Yoshi was pretty cute though.

Ouch indeed! :P I can't believe I forgot to credit Alan Silvestri. His great score truly is under recognized because of all the flack the movie gets.

apparently they made less than half :P Okay, did that fungus come with the toy, or is it something you had lying around?
