Hi everyone I am a Avionics Technician in the United States Marine Corps. I am a Collateral duty inspector for 4 different model type series light attack helicopters including our newest Yankee and Zulu helicopters. I am proud to say that this is a great advance in technology for Marine Corps Air Wing. I would love to work on these new F35B aircraft someday:)
It uses the front fan and main engine for pitch stability and it has a pair of nozzles on the wings that use thrust from the main engine to balance the roll. All of the fine controls are controlled by computers of course.
No, the F-22 is already in service. Not all are, but a few...very little. The rest go to the U.S. Air Force in 2010. The F-35B is going to the Navy and Marines, and possibly have an F-35A in the U.S. Air Force (F-35A's don't hover, they have CT)
And to look at it another way, the F35B first flew in June 2008. It hasnt yet transitioned from vertical to horizontal flight and when it does it wont do it that quick. I would definately go with this vid is CG.
Wrong variation. The "A" is the Air Force Model w/ standard take-off and landing. The "B" is the Navy's which is for the carrier. The "C" is the marines which is pretty much what is in the video.
@evanswgmann well robet gates has stop the development of the F35B varient and says if lockheed cant fix the problems within 2 years it will be canceled
That's just a computer animation. You can see that the pilot in this doesn't move and the real F-35B doesn't have that kind of door on the top intake, nor does it pop up so quickly, nor transition to horizontal flight like that. Nice vid, though!
This isn't computer animation. I saw some of this footage on the military channel and it was recently released "real" footage. It would make sense for it to be CG because it's so damn cool but it's real.
The fact that this is possible today doesn't change that this video in particular is CG. Many, including me, can easily distinguish from CG and reality.
This is so CG. That big door on the top would get ripped off if the plane was going anything around stalling speed when opened. That's hillarious! Check out the other videos of F35s hovering.

Did they really scrap the f22 program?

Word is that they're thinking of scrapping the F-22 program, I hope F-35 doesn't go along with it.
