thats a nice rainbow! i bet in a small pool thought in a thin shallow stream, they probably stocked a few monsters in that exact pool, because of there size they also couldnt travel down stream or up stream, also whats the best color for still or slow moving water????????
Pink and White are my goto colors. Their Mealworm, Red, Mint Green, Orange/Chartruese, Salmon have also been good. I have all their colors and change body color until I find out what the trout are biting that day..
@mratreyu - you don't make one, they can be bought at troutmagnet[dot]com. give them a try and be sure to follow their suggestions of light line and using a fluorocarbon leader - these are keys to success..!
YES - this nice trout was released. We also fish with our barbs pinched, we get better hook penetration. We regularly practice catch and release... "a trout is too valuable to catch only once..." [paraphased quote by Lee Wulff]
you are correct and on track. we go one-step further and fish with 2lb line and 2lb fluorocarbon on 9' rods. this helps our casting distance and hook-ups. set your drag properly and there is no problem landing BIG trout on light line using good equipment...
most fishing situations 4lb test will work just fine. in situaitons such as your video were there is shallow clear water the 2lb floro and 9ft pole will help alot.
we use prefer to use a size "B" split shot under a ez-trout float about 12-14" above the magnet. it is smaller and helps our casting distance when needing to get the magnet down into the "fishing zone" quicker, especially in fast flowing water...
Nice fish Jeff, TM really gets 'em going.

Great video. Wish all my fishing days were that productive.

Its all about the white ones. Works great on wild trout streams with or without the floats.

do you use a split shot 14 inches above the lure? i find it harder because of all the snags but you can cast it much farther
