Wouldve been funny to see Brad spin off his bumper. Thats a dangerous side to be pushing a car. Jr with his "restrictor plate talant" should know that.
@88fanforlife I want to say it was because the nationwide cars back then were more rounded in the bumpers than today, where they are more squared. a rounded surface touching another rounded surface has less contact with one-another, whereas two flat surfaces actually make more contact when lined up as the current vehicles are doing.
That was actually pretty awesome. Both Jr Motorsports cars handled so perfectly that they would literally be stuck like glue together for as long as they wanted. (Epic foreshadowing of the near future methods of restrictor plate racing)
Im suprised Junior hasnt won a plate race over the last couple years. but then again the '' 2 car tango '' fucked up the plate races.. Hope they find away to get the '' pack '' plate races back. Maybe Junior can get a another dega streak going :))
I fucking hate 2 car drafts. I liked it when it was a big pack and now it a 10 car pack all 2 car drafting. It suck. We can thank dale jr and nascar for the 2 car draft
@jaymes24885 its not jrs fault for the two car drafts, its a combination of the smoothness of dayona and talledega and how perfectly the bumpers on the cars align to each other
@jaymes24885 the pack racing was stupid, those races were all luck and even if you had the fastest car in the universe your probably not going to win, at least now, the 2 best cars will usually win
@Daltonalex25 Not neccessarily. Actually, the way it is now, I think the guy who has the fastest car has less of a shot winning 'cause now anybody can win a plate race. The fastest car's now just 1 of 43. It's who has the best teammates. The pack racing will be back after a little while though. The bumps are gonna be back in the Daytona track before you know it, and Talladega's gotta be getting a little rougher now, too.
@Chargerdaytona69 that was plate racing back then. its the plate that made them within a second of each other. its all about the bumpers man. btw, i hate the 2 car tango bullshit too.
@RancheroBFT I miss the old restrictor plate racing too. I'm not even sure if I'm going to be watching plate racing anymore if the two car drafts continue. If NASCAR wants the two car drafts to stay (I hope not), they might as well rename the Daytona 500 and name it the Two Car Draft 500. I'd rather have a train of 43 cars at least 2 times per race because at least the entire field is closer that way.
@retroguy1976 i agree. but the only cool thing in that cup race race last sunday was the very end. that was pretty much a four wide finish at the line. that was exciting to watch. but i do get annoyed with the 2 car racing.
I love how nascar fans think sticking close to the car in front requires some sort of godly driving skill when really all your doing is maintaining speed... God Nascar sucks
Actually, Dale Jr. just bump drafted Brad Keselowski right to the lead on laps 74-5 of the scheduled 117 laps. Bump drafting is a Sprint Cup (or Cup) thing on superspeedways like Talladega and Daytona.
thats not bump draft thats push the heck out of the guy in frount of u so u can wreck him with one to go like keslowski with the flip and run insed of the bump and run
yeah we need those bump drafts back fullstrength this year especially after those late race caution restarts ..gotta get the freight train rollin somehow..its just a matter of drivers knowing how to lay off entering the turns
Jr was for a moment but if you watch the whole video you'll see nobody bump drafts in the corners with those cars, they can't. If you go and look at any Dega or Daytona race before the COT you'd see they always let off each other in the corners except maybe when they went for the win because the bumpers didnt match up. They do with the COT and only then did we see bump drafting in the corners all the time which caused problems with drivers who dont know how to draft.
Side by side of Dale. In beginning,he put the nose on the bumper and then break by going outside from the bumper of the 88. Unlike others, Dale at leat is really good at learning how to bump them without the big one
That's crazy, It's very nice of Dale Jr putting his teammate Brad (88) to the first from later teen positions. Excellent speed Dale. U R really good at bumping them in the good manner.
Some drivers have to careful when they bumpdrafting others. It's very tricky and dangerous if it became aggressive as by bumping them with hard force. Bad bump = The big one
I didn't say without wrecking, I said while getting air to the nose. THAT is skill. Jr. isn't as good as he used to be, but he's not completely terrible either. Why do I mention clean air, well that keeps the engine cool, you know. Besides that, there are people who bumpdraft, and then end up causing the big one or even a rollover.
no no no no you got that all wrong buddy. kyle busch pushes the hardest (wrecks you) while dale jr pushes you the hardest with stability. youll get scared seeing that 18 in your mirror but that 88 will help you and you know your in good :D
start of the 2 car tandem???????

the thing that confuses me about this is how Jr is getting air on the left side instead of the right side, isn't that supposed to spin the lead car

The reason why the hook up like that is because the COT cars make alot of drag behind it.
