Stock lights as well? Very nicely done. I was unaware that hard corals could be grown so efficiently with the red sea max stock equipment. What a tank!
Sorry hit "send" to quickly on my post below. I was going to add that my MP10 kept falling off. Who would of thought 1/2 mm would make so much difference :-(.
Great video and fantastic tank JDM. How do you find the MP10? I had problems with mine due to the glass thickness of RSM 250 and had to replace with the MP40.
AWSOME tank I have the same 250 reef along with my 220 gal reef. Red sea is great. I have never had a problem with algae on the sand. U need to get a better clean up creak. Look for stuff that eats green algae Maui hermet crabs red fire shrimp sand sifting gobie the trick with any system fresh or salt is to over filter and have a shit load of carbon I have never done a water change on y 250 in the 2 years I have had it just have to spend the money on the best. Salt is simple once u understa
I have had a tropical fish tank for almost three years now and I am looking to start a Marine tank in the near future, so at the moment I have been reading lots of stuff about the costs of setting up, and maintaining a marine tank. Now I accept that I'm going to be spending a fair amount of money purchasing the tank and then setting it up, however what I really want to know is how much on average does it cost each month in regards to household bills and general maintainance. Your tank is amazing
The MP10 is rated for glass of 9.5mm thickness maximum which is 3/8", the RSM 250 has 10mm glass thickness... Is the MP10 affected in any way? Like does it fall off easily, like either the MP40 knocks it off, by maintenance or fish knocking it? or is it noisy? Does it feel secure on the glass? Thanks. Must say...Nice Reef
Great tank 5* rating, is that an mp10 or 40 you're running? Man I can't wait until my tank looks like that! Mine has been set up for three months hopefully when it matures it'll look like yours. Also are you using anything other than what came with the tank like a uv sterilizer etc....
@lixsajoe I'm running both! lol The MP40 is on the right side and the MP10 on the left, but more towards the back of the tank. They're great for lifting the detritus off the rock when you crank them up. The tank is pretty much stock except I have had a Biocube 14 as a refugium hooked up to the Max as a nutrient export and the addition of a chiller. This was a must for me 'cause the tank got super hot during the summer months. Hope you're enjoying your new tank and best of luck with it!
@gizmoody Thanks! I'm still using the stock skimmer. Not the best, but works well enough. When I shut it off, I can't turn it back on without manually lifting the skimmer out of the back and giving it a boost with a dry start.
wow thats awesome man! i bet you spent over 15 grand on that baby

How do you keep the tank so clean? My sand has brown stuff all over it. Please answer back thank you

@thumpco
Do you have a clean up crew?? it sounds like diatoms but hermit crabs eat that stuff for breakfast!
TtownAquaria 1 month ago
@TtownAquaria Hermit crabs seem hard to keep b/c of their shell changes. Oh I also don't have plain sand mine has crushed rock pieces.
