  • I just realized these are her movies! love this.

  • If I was her son, I would smell and lick her feet every night while she's sleeping!

  • I thought "My minds started to go" was for Hamlet. Anyone know?

  • Shes perfect.

  • I really love this commercial!

  • My favourite commercial!!!

  • I've always loved this commercial for some reason :) Kate is so pretty! Sense & Sensibilty is one of my favorite movies and she was so perfect in it as Maryanne.

  • it took me a while to get this commercial lol

  • At 20, you lost your mind when ya did Hamlet!

  • @Mattbrain no that's for eternal sunshine

  • YESS!!!! i love all of the movie references!!!

  • this commercial makes me feel nostalgic. I love you Kate, you have one of THE best filmographies of any actress today.

  • Funny, you can tell she has an English accent and the backround looks like it could possibly be Europe, yet it's AMERICAN express

  • @SuperHety Its London

  • LOVE THIS COMMERCIAL.

  • This commercial is so well done, with the camera work and shots representing her earlier films... love it.

  • is the song in the background supposed to be augustana, boston??

  • I LOVE this. but i gotta admit i totally didnt get it at first, LOL! Amazing. Love Kate Winslet and love this commercial, so creative!

  • "I almost drowned at age 20." There's no way she could possibly be talking about a little film called Titanic, right? ;D

  • This is the best commercial ever.

  • can someone write down the script please?

  • I LOVED THIS COMMERCIAL!!

I love how they make her life all the characters she's portrayed... ingenious!

  • Ahh... thats the best advert i have ever seen.

How could anyone give that a thumbs down?

  • I JUST LOVE HER!

  • Where was this filmed?

  • @piecesofrainbow3 camden lock in london

  • @piecesofrainbow3

    camden town market, in London.

  • When she said something with opened the Jane Austen book, I was thinking about Sense&Sensibility...

    hmm...^^

  • The first she said in 17, It was Heavenly Creatures, right?

  • I started realized she's talking about her own movies when she said "and by 29, I was in Neverland..."

    CREATIVE!!!!! XDDD

  • Let me clear this up for those that think the commercial refers to Hamlet. She was 19 when she did Hamlet and 20 when she did Titanic. When she says in the commercial she was 20 when she almost drowned they are referring to Titanic or she would have said I drowned at 19.

  • this is one good commercial, the music, script, the actress, setting, well everything.

  • not only is she one of the greatest actresses of this generation, if not THE greatest....she's also f'ing hot

  • 20 she almost drowned- titanic

  • what a genius commecial - just like Kate herself.

  • one of the wittiest commercials ever!

  • 20..she was drowned??

It was hamlet..ophelia died because she drowned herself

  • It said she almost drowned... Titanic.

  • Quite possibly my favorite commercial ever!

  • GENIUS! love Kate too! LOL

  • LOL

  • i loved this commercial when it was on tv.

  • que mujer mas hermosa!!!

  • OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I luv this commercial.

  • Kate Winslet is just beautiful. Gorgeous.

  • no, i think she's true. and brainy.

  • She is without a doubt very brainy. Even though she plays an illiterate in The Reader, she is the polar opposite of that in real life. This in addition, to being the most beautiful woman in the world. A true English rose. Love her!

  • hehe. Rose Dawson.!

  • No, the lovely and intellectually brillant Kate Winslet! There needs to more like her in this world.

  • I so remember this commercial

  • Best commercial ever. So well done

  • bu amerikalılar işi biliyor işe gitmiyor kardeşim ben bunların hayat felsefesini anladım filozofia

  • Loved it! the music is so sweet, and her voice is beautiful

    I love Kate :) she's wonderful

  • Love her

  • they probably said drowning because it works for BOTH hamlet and titanic.

I love this commercial so much.

i remember the first time I saw it (a while ago) i flipped out every time it played. its crazy clever : )

  • one of the best commercials ever

  • "went to prison for murder" = Heavenly Creatures

"penniless and heartbroken" = Sense and Sensibility

    "almost drowned" = Titanic

"mind started to go" = Iris

"had my memory erased" = Eternal Sunshine

    "in Neverland" = Finding Neverland

  • why is she talkin like that ohemgee shes british ahhh i get it

  • oh still what a very clever commercial

  • oh I see its a reference to all her movies the mind erasing part was from eternal sunshine of the spotless minds and the drowning was from titanic

  • the droning was actually from Hamlet. Sine she was 21 when they did titanic.

  • Nope, it's Titanic. She DID drown in Hamlet, she ALMOST drowned in Titanic. She was 20 when she made that film, I've heard her say it in interviews.

  • when did she almost drown in Titanic? Sure she was on a ship in an ocean but besides when she had to hold her breath for half a minute. It's Kate Winslet talking stating she almost drowned as Ophelia. The character Ophelia was the who drowned.

  • She was floating on a door in the middle of the ocean for hours. She was on a sinking ship. That classifies as 'almost drowned'. Ophelia DID drown, so she would say 'I drowned' not 'I almost drowned'.

  • Oh forget it. Your obviously not going to change your mind so there's no reason to go on. Do I think it was titanic? No. Do I think everyone should think the same? No. Was I the one to start this? No. But I'm ending it.

  • Am I obviously ending the conversation because I've lost the argument? No, but one of us is.

  • Wow, did you not hear the ship's horn right before her saying that she nearly drowned?? It was alluding to her role in Titanic! The last time I checked, steamships didn't exist in Shakespeare's time....

  • Try drowing in freezing cold water, maybe it'll make you think again.

  • oh, so the i almost drowned was about titanic?

    i get it! haha

    i love kate winslet

    and titanic<33

  • All the things are about movies she did!

  • ikk i just love titanic so i referred to that movie lol

  • No the drowning thing was Hamlet. I wonder why they didn't include titanic =/

  • Yeah. I don't understand that either. They included Sense and Sensibility. Why not Titanic? I was her most famous.

  • It's Titanic because Ophelia DID drown in Hamlet, and Rose ALMOST drowned in Titanic.

  • Hello everybody, watch this video and write your opinions please, it is very important to me...click my name to see the video

  • I love this commercial and the music, anyone knows the name of the music?

  • She should be doing James Bond Films soon !!! She's got the juice !!!

  • i get it!

  • she looks pretty but i think she looks prettier with red hair i love titanic the most

  • i agree with you (:

  • she's soo young!!! I still can't believe it!

  • I love this commercial

  • favorite american express commercial!

  • I like that advert.

  • i think she is beautiful. if there's someone i could look like anyone famous i think it would be her.

  • Naht.

  • Grande Kate!!!

  • Even in Commercials, Kate's a doll!..Her real life doesnt need any extra drama haha..Keep on shining Kate!

  • It took me until the 'Eternal Sunshine' reference to actually understand the commercial...lol

I watched all the movies she's talking about.... I love Kate!

  • Me too <3 I was like, what the heck is she talking about xD I just wish she would have made the "Titanic" reference a little more romantic :p

  • she mut be a legend

  • sense and sensibility!

  • Love her. There is no other actress like her out there.

Its weird how she is so younger, she looks alot older. not that she old looking, she just has a very mature face.

  • i lovee herrr.!(:

  • this is SUCH a great commercial. i love eternal sunshine:)

  • i think i finally got this commercial....

    One of my favourites.

  • she's awesomee and i stalk her becuse my friend maddie thinks no one knows who shee is! (:

  • My idol!!

  • Heavenly Creatures

    Sense and Sensibillity

    Titanic

    Iris

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

    Finding Neverland

....those are all the movies she's talking about. Heavenly Creatures is the best

  • ok that makes sense i was confused

  • I've never heard her talking in English (okay,I'm lame,I know but I watched her movies synchronized) but I like her voice very much,it's kinda calming.

  • "i almost drowned at 20"-Titanic!!!

  • she was 20 during acting in titanic

  • She turned 21 during Titanic's filming, so she was 20/21.

  • Seem like she's been through a great deal ;-) hehe.

Kate is a wonderful, wonderful actress!

  • An extrodinary Actress in an extrodinary commercial.

  • I LOVE this!! Finding Neverland is the best=)

  • at 19, penniles and heartbroken: Sense and Sensibility.

She was 19 when she made that film.

About sisters who are left nothing from their father's fortune.

  • 17, prison for murder: Heavenly Creatures

    19, penniless and heartbroken: Jude

    20, almost drowned: Titanic

    24, started losing mind: Iris

28, memory erased: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

29, went to Neverland: Finding Neverland

  • Or is 19 "Hamlet"?

  • I'm pretty sure 19 is Sense and Sensibility, she holds up the book at 0:15.

  • Ah. Duh, Shane. XD

Couldn't figure it out. Thanks. :)

  • Haha your welcome

  • Oke ty! I'm from the Netherlands. ;)

  • SHE IS THE BEST! <3

    But i don't understand this commercial. :$

  • shes saying what famous parts shes acted out at what age.

eg. she got her mind erased in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

    ... almost drowned, titatnic.. etc..

  • She is the best

  • hmmm... that white truck came out of no where in 0:35 :S

  • it's a concept you see. She is saying her memories were erased and a white-eraser-shaped truck passes in front of her and she disappear... like she was erased...

  • Not quite. . .shes going through her roles that she has played and at that point she is speaking of her role is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and in the movie she has her someone erases her from his memory

  • oh thats pretty sick, i never thought of it that way

  • oh wow, i actually beleived this commercial to be true of her real life when i first saw this commerical on TV XD. i really like this, its very unique and interesting. i remember thinking WHAT? she murdered someone? lol

  • me too!!

  • 1. Heavenly Creatures

    2.Sense and Sensibility

    3. Titanic

    4. Iris

    5. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

    6. Finding Neverland

    yay! i love kate! :)

  • i think 4 is hamlet, she was Ophelia wasn't she?

  • no, that was julia stiles

  • BlueSunshine, you are confusing Ethan Hawke's "Hamlet" with the far superior Kenneth Branagh version 4 years before it, in which Kate was a sublime Ophelia. Boggles my mind how Julia Stiles could be cast in a role like that. Was the Kenneth Branagh version (and even the Laurence Olivier one) and see how it really is supposed to be performed.

  • Don't worry, I have already watched Branagh's version :) And you're right, I have forgotten that Kate was in it. Probably because I thought it was Branagh's most inadequate adaption of a Shakespeare drama.

The film's plot was so close the original... Nevertheless it could not transport the actual MEANING of it... Ethan Hawke's version did a much better job at that

  • Yes, she was Ophelia

  • oh wow i remember this commercial. i didn't know that was her in it though!

  • Oh wow! I remember this commercial, and was so happy to see it again! It made my day. Added it to my favorites! :) Kate is awesome! Love her movies!

  • i almost drowned at 20... lmbao

  • i know!!

    TITANIC!

  • I remember this ad... I just couldn't remember who was in it! How did I forget Kate?! :L

  • i saw this commercial before and i didnt get it because i didnt know who she was, but now i love her and remember this commercial!

  • She's so beautiful, and she has a such a lovely voice!

  • Heavenly Creatures, Sense and Sensibility, Titanic, Iris, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Finding Neverland :)

  • I never saw this on tv. did anyone?

  • of course!

  • Curlyworms, when did you meet her?

  • This is a really interesting commercial, and it's not blatantly obvious she's talking about movies she's been in. Sense and Sensibility, Titanic, and Finding Neverland are what clued me in :)

  • I was in this commercial! walking in the background! Met Kate Winslet, she's lovely!!

  • Can't get enough of this commercial. So intriguing

  • This is one of my favorites!!! An amazing commercial!!!!!

  • I believe the one you are missing is Hamlet (she played Ophelia)

  • there's something oddly beautiful about this ad. i love how it pulls me in. plus, kate is so dang beautiful...she can do no wrong. well done, AmEx! well done.

  • How on earth can an ad for a credit card be so plaintive and heartbreaking?

  • Can someone give me a list of all the roles she's talking about? The only ones I recognize are Titantic, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and Finding Neverland.

  • You're corrct on all them - well the first one is referring to Heavenly Creatures (went to prison for murder), then comes Sense and Sensibility (penniless and heartbroken), then Titanic (almost drowned), then Iris (?) then Eternal Sunshine (memory erased) then Finding Neverland.

  • Thanks! (:

  • i think this is one of the best commercials there is. It is simply bizzare and i love it!

  • OMG i love that commercial, its amazing!!

  • she's talking about all of her roles at this commercial. Good advertisement...:)

  • I just noticed that when she says "by 19 I was penniless and heart-broken", she picks up a copy of Sense and Sensibility.

  • I love her
