@TheLegitReaper If you're going to print it, it's going to be reduced to the size of the book. so use a size bigger than the final product but with the same proportions, more or less.
Ok so my question is if the framing line is basically the normal range for the size of the panel, does that mean that the panels HAVE to align with the dotted line?Cuz I've gotten 6 chapters fully inked of my own works and alot of the panels don't align with that dotted line and it's been bugging me since i started.
So wait we HAVE to have that paper and we HAVE to draw out all of the panels? I always thought like people photoshopped it to make it look that way...
omg thank the lord you made this cuz i bought some paper today and i had no idea why the hell it had all those lines i got kinda scared THANK YOU!!!!!
@mngapro OOOOHHHH okay thats awsome!!! one more question im so sorry if im annoying you -_-" but the paper is sooo big where do i find a scanner to scan it in the computer O.o" TT^TT
@Vampirelove300 they have scanners where u can just feed the paper through without laying it on a scanner bed which kinda looks like a paper shredder, but those are super expensive. for now all i can suggest is going to a kinkos or copy shop :(
@EasyKnightStudio i have it but never touch it haha dont like working digital when doing manga, most of the fun for me comes out of doing everything with my own hands
dang i finaly found video like yours! this was really a good a video man do more :D
It would be awesome you could explain us how to choose our case o= like i know that for comic manga we can simply use rectable but i dont know for the other what to choose
Thank-you for explaining it so well! I haven't found a video that explained it so good, and now the mystery of the lines is solved, ahahaha. Thank-you!! And very well explained!
And random sidenote: Takeshi Obata is amazing. The guy's sense of speed and action and paneling just wows me.
And the center folding is new to me. I learned a lot by this video!
so this is how you panel when your publishing a manga for real? cause i been having trouble with the paneling and i want to publish my work too but need to make sure if the paneling im using is right so when im paneling i have to panel like this or parts will be cut out? cause i think i saw many mangakas before not paneling this way i really want to do this right!
This has been really helpful, especially since I kinda know nothing about the creation of manga and am a budding mangaka ^^' cleared up a lot of queries for me!
Nice vid i had alot of trouble drawing panels especially the two-page panels thanks for breaking it down and if your in the process of creating a manga good luck !
@mngapro O well its this store where I live and from what my teacher told me they sell all kinds of art material from high grade material to low grade.
the finishing line is almost like the "bleed" for all your panel. in graphic design we have a "bleed" the will be cut off in the cutting area. it is almost used as if you want the colour to go to the edge of the paper.
Mngapro, let me correct this, there's frame line, then cut off line, then bleeding line. That's how these thing works, same like Magazine Ad, leaflet, brochure and all. You interpreted it wrong bro, I'm a graphic designer and a storyboard artist, now in a process publishing my own comic too.
Really great video, good and usefull tips :). When you took the Ral Grad book out and started bending it over and drawing a light line in it i was like "Oh no i cant believe he did that" xD lol, i take very good care of my books, bending them over would give them small bend marks outside, not good xD. Anyway, the video helped me alot :).
This was really helpful'. I've been looking for something like this all this time ^^! Thanks.
Another question, i hope you don't mind. Do you live in ny, because i buy manga to practice pose and all that at Book Off :D...so i was wondering... n.n
@strawberrybankai12 i got it from a store called "Book Off" its a japanese book store that sells mostly used book and in the manga section they have a huge ammount of manga for $1.00! but im sure u can also get it on ebay or amazon
what about dialog baloons? in one of the pages you showed from the ralgard manga the panel was right on the fram line, but the baloon was a little farther out.....
i suck at placing my baloons, i ussually forget there has to be baloons! haha
@bluchismoon its a manga called ral grad. the art was done by takesh obata who was also the artist for hikaru no go, death note, cyborg jii-chan G and a whole bunch of other great manga
is that that one manga where in the beginning where the boy was walking home from school or to school and he was eating ice cream and he met this cute girl and she took his ice cream and ate it and he was thinking to himself that its a direct kiss lol
Thanx man this is really helpful, i'm startin a manga myself and i never really got how to use manuscript paper, but i was wondering when u make name , i knpw its supposed to be short like 5 pages, so do u get a whole 25 pages worth of ideas into like 5 pages???
Thanks dude, this helped ALOT. I've been trying to make pannels for a while now but could never really find a method to stick with. But after I got the right supplies and this tutorial it helped majorly. I'm even applying it now as I type.
