That does not defeat the purpose at all. Actually, it's the way it was written. Back in 1983, La Cage Aux Folles had a different sort of meaning back then. I wrote a paper on this show for a musical theatre class and covered every professional production. The most recent one has been the only one to date to use all male cagelles.
The point of the show is "you can't judge someone for how they appear" or more over "you can't judge a book by it's cover"
@thykothak I thought there was a female voice in there...I was trying to figure out which one it was for the life of me but there all so convincing lol ( I so wish to see this show)

Cady Huffman (one of Les Cagelles)! Her first broadway role. She would later win a tony for playing Ulla in The Producers! Awsome!
