It is definitely more than a dance, and I am quite surprised that a Brazilian would discredit a beautiful piece of his own culture. @MrCav88 Do you play capoeira?? Angola isn't a dance version, and regional isn't necessarily a fight version. Both can be beautiful, both can be dangerous. The styles are very different, angola's more about the "game" and trickery. Regional is more about the speed, straight leg kicks, aesthetics etc

Dont read everything you read on wikipedia. Capoeira is a fighting art developed by aboriginal slaves in brazil, many many years ago. It was disguised as a dance to hide its true form from the slave owners. There is a long history of this art and it IS a martial art.

This is cool stuff. I especially love seeing women in traditional martial arts. Often times, martial arts is too male dominated. But skilled women often have some of the cleanest forms and technique. And I totally dig the tune in this video.

Some technique is underwhelming because when the slaves (africans)were training it in the farms in Brazil they need to mix and try to fake their martial arts doing some dances, if their owners knew they where training martial arts instead of dancing they would be in serious trouble!!!Thats why!

Only a stupid martial artist assumes that another martial art is useless, but then again you never said your a martial artist, so I guess its ok if you can't differentiate a demonstration to real fighting form.
