I didn't mean to offend the norwegian people and I realize that I came off a bit strong. HOWEVER, it seems as though there were alterier motives for the nomination and that in itself is horrendous. The recipient in this case is neather well deserving of the prize nor is he a sensible candidate. It's outrageous! He is a promotor of war, for gods sake! It's just not right. The name Alfred Nobel should not be used to propagate diplomatic relations with a Superpower or otherwise.

I have heard the committees motivation. It is not satisfactory in the slightest. A promotor of war is disqualified from a prize awarding efforts for peace. I don't know how it can get any clearer than this.
I find President Obama completely honest when he said he was surprised to learn that he had been awarded the prize and that he found others to be more deserving, yet he accepted the award.

As for the "ameliaration" of the relationship between the countries, how else do you explain the committees choice of all the 205 record nominations? The nomination reached the committee just two weeks after Obama was sworn in as President, in 01-02-2009 and was announced in 09-10-2009.

I think it was as far back as under Bill Clintons presidency that the first claims of the supposed impeccability of these so called "smart bombs" was made. Bush later adopted this rhetoric and Obama, unsurprisingly, followed suit. However precise these bombs may be, which has come into question and will so again, they are just as undiscriminating if the targets live among a civilian population.

The values and wishes of Alfred Nobel, from which the peace prize owes it's validity, has been compromised.
If the committee does not uphold the wishes of Alfred Nobel to the best of their abillity the spirit of the award is tainted and the legitimacy of the committee comes into question.
I strongly question the commitees integrity and it's claimed incorruptibility.
Their resignation would be most welcome.

big the rest of Europe had a lot to do with how Germany was treated after WW1. ANd Europe wanted to punish Germany after WW2. The US was the biggest voice in rebuilding Germany.

Are you still on the birth certificate thing? Besides the conservative Supreme Court dismissing the case, (you know the court I am talking about, the same one that appointed bush President in 2000, ya that one). Don't you think a Republican journalist would have given his left nut to prove President Obama was an illegal immigrant? What about the 2 birth notices in the Honolulu, Hawaii newspapers. I rarely look facts up using Wikipedia. I watch a lot of C-Span. I use the Sunlight Foundation, Open Secrets. and other sites similar to that.

Oh, you are wrong about me. I liked Reagan and I didn't like Clinton and am critical to any President and/or administration. I have read a lot about all of our Presidents and bush w. was the worst in US history. We will be paying in money and blood for decades because of him. I challenge anyone to state that he did ANYTHING right. Anything. I guarantee you it was a failure. He is a mass murderer and a war criminal and the chickens have not come home to roost yet. The only way I've protected my savings was investing in gold, because of the "shrinking dollar". The value of gold has never gone down. But I still disagree with you on the Bush thing. Many individuals and organizations have received the Nobel Peace Prize for their ideals and goals. President Obama deserved this prize for his Cairo speech alone.
