@TheMegaFirewolf no I think they could've made it so that little girl passes the story down until in this year, a brave one decides to go up there and see for themselves, but then the child gets scared and they set up a trap and they catch Edward and puts him in some kind of freak show that would be cool but it would have to have Tim directing it still because otherwise it would just fail :L

i totally love this movie! tim burton has that way of making magic and i just noticed he never has technology stuff like computers or anything in his movies. it's just simple but brilliant. :]

i'd also like to add that edward is a bit like L from death note. they're actually very different, but it just gives me that aww feeling. :D

first of all, they are not claws but scissors ergo the title of the movie...

they symbolize Edward not being finished, so not being 'normal' therefore not fitting in.. it might as well have been rubber ducks or ribbons instead of scissors, except Burton needed scissors since scissors can be used as tools, but also as something dangerous (though they aren't meant to be dangerous).. then ppl either see him as useful in spite of his 'handicap' or dangerous (when he is of no use and is unwanted)

The way I always understood it was love at first sight (prob the first girl his own "age" he'd ever seen as well). Also she was the only one to treat Edward like a person, and not trying to use and/or look down on him like everybody else. She tried to protect him as well, while others just watched to see what he'd do next.

If you haven't seen the movie, check it out. Fantastic movie. If you have, then cool :D

Yeah, I truly doubt people would accept some dude with scissors for hands at all irl. :P

She had the reputation of being the 'slut' of the desperate housewives in that neighborhood so that is how she works (and gets the most attention, which she desperately craves and needs), and she wanted what everyone else wanted, which was the ability to have something special with Edward so they can brag about their experience to each other on the corner.
