Just listening to the voice...I can see why someone would get the two mixed up (Marc Almond and Robert Smith)...the only difference between the two is that Smith's voice doesn't tend to be so flat and has higher notes that tend to slip in, but other than that...

Never heard The Cure doing synth music though, but if you didn't know that, and were just starting out, this could easily be The Cure and not Soft Cell.
