  • German cars are made to a better quality and different standards but you have to understand that they're also about twice as much as the Mustang, Camaro, and Challenger. Thats the magic of the American Muscle Car, its affordeable performance that can match and now most likely top a lot of German cars that cost twice as much. Its all about performance that anyone can afford without dropping their life savings, so German cars may be better quality, but American cars are just better buys.

  • Forget that, let's all get 325i's or C300's and kick some American cars asses. We are in 200's as far as HP and we cost 40k! Go German engineering!

  • German don't have better quality. They USED to back in the 80s but their reliability is crap now. They're at the bottom of the ratings heap. They do have nicer designs and much nicer interiors though, for the most part.

    By the way German cars don't cost TWICE as much. Some do, like high end models but there are many that are comparable.

  • You forgot about the 20 mpg American cars get and the 30-40 German diesel cars get, German cars come out better over the years, no matter how much you try to sugar-coat it.

    No offence to American cars though, infact I might get a Challenger myself...

  • i disagree, the diesels get high milage but they have a totally different motor then these cars have, and theyre much more powerful and WAY WAY WAY more fun then any german car lol and much better looking too, if ur out for gas milage why not just get a nice hybrid instead of a expensive forign diesel car and they rarely break but if somehing does they are very expensive, and diesel fuel cost [even tho it is made with the waste left over after refining gas, ripoff...] is much higher then gas too

    Your last statement is true, but you're forgetting it's all about ratios and proportions. Diesel gas may be 150% the price of regular gas, but that's why it'll take you 200% of the way gas will.

  • this cars more like 425 hp stock the one in the video is higher since its been worked on, but anyway no i havent driven vw diesels but ive driven a older diesel car i think it was a chevy and it had no power and wasnt very fun to drive other then all the black smoke [injector pump was turned up lol] i have nothing against diesel i love diesel trucks and when i got enough money saved i intend to buy a ford or dodge diesel truck and all of our farm equipmet is diesel, i just think its dumb in cars

Yeah Diesels are fun and get better mpgs. a 300hp 700 ftlbs diesel would get its doors blown off by a car like this unless it was swapped into a light car. a 3/4 trucks weighs 6000+ pounds. Im not saying there are not diesels that are faster, there plenty out there. Just gonna need way more than 300hp or a 2k pounds diet.

  • almost every country on the planet makes at least a few cars that have soul, and are designed for the purpose of pure enjoyment rather than the pursuit of being the most technical or most economical, america has tons, viper, corvette, camaro, mustang, challenger, etc, australia has things like the Joss Supercar, but also have things like the Monaro, etc. Germany has the M3 etc, britain has Aston Martin, etc. japan has the nissan GTR....a playstation with tires.

  • heres the problem with what you said....the ZR1 is faster than the GTR, FAR better looking, and much more enjoyable to drive. it is a drivers car. the GTR is a playstation on wheels. the ZR1 beats it 0 -60, in the quarter mile, around the nurburgring, everything. the corvette is superior in every single way, surprisingly, INCLUDING reliability. a very widely known crippling problem for the GTR is its transmission. and where im from (canada) a GTR costs about $120 000 to, so $ for $...ZR1 wins.

  • The original hemi was called a hemi because it had hemisperical combustion chambers. If you take the time and do a quick search you will see that the cylinder heads of the 6.1 SRT motors are not completely hemispherical which means they are not true hemis. I guess this is marketing working at it best, it has you so easily convinced.

Instead of being domed heads they are more like flower pots but the domes part is not what made HEMIs powerful its the fact that the falves point at each other so it casues better flow through the heads so more air and gas in and out causing more power so you do realize that your comment isnt really an educated comment right? its a haters campaign, nothing more

Its the shape of the combustion chamber that make the power, an air circulation is created by the shape of the combustion chamber. You yourself just admited that it isnt a true hemi and you described what is the average cylinder head. A haters campaign, I am attempting to educate the average commenter like you. Do your research, I didnt think I would have to tell you twice.

  • Some heads have the intake and exhaust on the same side. BAD flow, if you put the intake on the opisite side it helps. Normal engines have the air flow go down then get sucked back up wich is not the best, the HEMI valves are angled so that the air goes in faster and out the other side faster with the spark plug dead center for a better burn... Simple

  • How does it help? The exhaust valve is closed when the intake valve opens in most circumstances. There are some cars where the exhaust valve will be closing while the intake valve is opening and helps to get more air and fuel in the cylinder. The position of the valve in the cylinder head is irrelivant.

  • It's called valve overlap. It's the cam that controls this, not the type of car it's in. And every motor since the early 1900s has had overlap ground into the cam. It's called scavenging. Using the exhaust rushing out of the manifold to help draw in the intake charge.

  • Actually having inline valves makes sense. You have a smaller combustion chamber and can have quench which a hemi cannot have. Plus your pistons are lighter which makes for a stronger spinning assembly. The new "hemi" is more like a pent roof combustion chamber. Chrysler using "hemi" is a marketing gimmick that is working. Can't blame them for trying to sell cars. The hemi has its place, but for most racing, that's not it.
