However, his move for urdua being the state language was largely seen as deny space for bangla speaking east pakistan. from that moment and onward any thing that was bangla was seen antpakistani - our language, culture, our "DarkSkinned" people were all seen connotatively by the Pakistan Army (mainly Panjabis). This was very much institutionalized by the long army rules in post 1947 era.

However, It did not suit the military and bureaucratic elite from Punjab to have democracy as it would have meant dominance of the more progressive Bengali leaders. Even as late as 1964 Ms. Jinnah was supported by people in East Pakistan while she lost in the West. Language and other issues could have been settled with political pluralism but the military boot only destroys.
