  • Good tips on not filling it all with snow right away! Spruce is great for tea!

  • I like chewing spruce gum...My grandfather got me doing that

  • Works for me. I didn't know you put in a little at a time. Ive never melted snow for water, but I would have just packed the kettle full first time and waited.

Is that how you learned to do it slow, cos of the 3 attempts?

Im sure up there in CA you are plenty experienced with snow. Where are you?

  • LOL, no my camera bunked out twice. My Stepfather taught me this. I live in Newfoundland, Canada (East Coast).

  • Glad you Like it. I'll Be doing more outdoor videos soon. You'd Love Newfoundland Grimbo, Lots of places to explore and enjoy. Cheers, Ed

  • Great idea to get out and train yourself in this manner! I too have done this, my time of survival training was in many places with the US Marine Corps, but what made that easy was learning these little tricks from my Dad. Keep working at this, there is no such thing as to much knowlege (unless you have a Govt. Job). There are so many ways to treat water but boiling it it the best in my opinion. Good video, and I hope to see more like this from you.

  • Crap, I do have a Gov't job (LOL). But, Here the saying goes govt. workers need to learn the most. And this holds true for me. I learn something everytime I do an activity like this, or from someone else posting a video here. US Marine Corps, wow, How was it? I have a great respect for people who serve in the Military. It takes True courage to stand up and protect us. Thanks Drak for Being one of the Few who do!!! Ed

  • i think its was a good and simple video, 5/5,, thanks for sending it to me.

  • and its a nice kittel you have :0)

  • Kinda looks similar to yours, hey. thanks Fred. ED

  • No problem, thank you for watching. Cheers, Ed

  • Lol its so hard to find water here in florida. I live about a mile from a lake but if you all ever see the news we have kids that die all the time cause of bacteria in the lakes here. (would it count if i got the water from my pool?) LOL The only way i can see me geting water would be to dig for it.

  • LOL, Boil it, chemically treat it, boil it, treat it, and boil it some more. LOL

I don't think Grimbo wants anyone to die doing his tasks, LOL.

    Cheers mate, Ed

  • Lol its fine. Those of us who watch your vids dont even notice it....well atleast i dont lol

  • Thanks for being kind Cody. Ed

  • Great Video Ed, i'm going to put a video on tomorrow for the group too, hope i do it right. mine is very similar to what you did.

And i did what you said Not to do, lol, put to much snow in, lol, and my fire burned away before it boiled, wish i watched this before i did it, lol, came out o.k in the end though.

    see you Ed.

    Mike.

  • Can't wait to see it Mike, Bet you did a fine job. My step father would laughed the first time he taught me this, when he saw me coming with an arm full of snow. thought all I had to do was place on the fire and presto water, I was 7. LOL put out the fire too. Well, I learned from my mistake. Cheers, ED

  • great video ed, 5/5 you explain things much better than i can ,

    malc

  • at least you do not studder like an idiot in front of a camera like I do. Really, it's like perfect prior to the camera, then....adb, adeb, that's aaalll fffolllkkks. Elmer fudd syndrome, LOL. ED

  • Not all who studder are idiots, for all you flaggers out there. I was merely showing my frustration about my camera fright. Ed

  • funny thing is ed , when i,m off camera i know excactly what to say but as soon i turn the camera on it all goes out my mind , thats why in my vids i hardly ever say much ,lol

    malc
