how can it work if everyone is equal and hard work cannot advance you? there is no incentive to work harder - since everyone is equal is terms of pay, social status etc, then where's the incentive for someone to work harder and study to become a doctor when they would be just as well of becoming secretary?

communism its a nice concept - of a utopian community but it goes against a fundamental aspect of human nature - the desire to embetter yourself.

people can advance you. being equal doesn't mean that you won't get what you want. harder you work more you will get in the way of geting what you want. if you want a tv then work towards and the community will give it to you. there will be community run programmes will distribute things that will fulfil peoples wants. working hard will provide credits that one can use to get things that are not needed like tvs, cars, etc.

No, don't you get it? Socialism happens before communism. Under socialism, the means of production, distribution and exchange are state owned or owned collectivly by the workers. Under communism, community uses the resources of that community to fulfil the needs and wants of that community. There is no cash. so a system of credits would be used to reward workers with things that they want. on teh other hand, the community wil provide the things that the people need.
