The U.S was engaged with Vietnam from the early 1960's to the mid 1970's and not once was that called a war. I don't know how you reckoned that the length of a U.S engagement determines a conflict/war.

People have to change to the regime and not depend on some outside force to. if we go around being the world's 911 we will be the one's eventually needing to be saved. Wars/conflict have a human cost as well as monetary cost and looking at the current state of our budget I would say the river has run dry for adventurous interventionism.

I went to the same school when I was there and when we learned about World War 2 it was "HOWOCAWST, HOWOCAWST, and HOWOCAWST" They even told us the reason US fought against Germany was because of the Holocaust.
