@flowers261 The blue loom itself is 5.5 inches wide, but I'd say the yarn compresses as it comes out the bottom, so 4-5 inches wide for the blue loom scarf, 6-7 inches wide for the red loom, 8-9 inches for the green loom, and 10-11 inches wide for the large round yellow loom
thanks for making this video, it was very helpful!! I tried to teach myself how to change colour before watching this and I failed, there was a hole in where I changed colour. I won't have holes anymore!! :))
@DinoThunder2009 If you have a couple of sections done already, then you can pick a point on the color (either the "bump" part of the stitch, or the "bar" part of the stitch) and count each row. It can get kind of tricky, you might have to eye ball it. Another solution is to have a paper next to you and number 1-10 and check off every time you make a row. Also they sell these clicker/counter things at the craft store. Goes from 0 to 99 and every time you finish a row you click to count
Thanks for your help I decided to look this up because I had a huge pile of yarn and nothing to do with it so I thought "hey Christmas is rite around the corner and plenty of b-days" so thank you sooo much
@DinoThunder2009 Interesting, I got my looms a few years ago and the instructions were for 2. The wrapping twice and putting one yarn over the other is called the e-wrap stitch. Maybe they have a new set of instructions? I have seen where you wrap it 3 times pulling the bottom yarn over the top 2 layers. Some people called this a rib stitch. It give the finished piece a different look that the e-wrap. Try them both and see which look you like better. :)
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU you are amazing!!!! I just started to get into looming and all I have been making with my circle looms are hats. I wanted to make other things for christmas presents so this showed me how to not only make a scarf but how to change colors! you are so helpful! =)
Thanks, this helped a lot! My youth group is making hats to give to homeless kids and I thought that if I made a hat with stripes it would be really cool. Really beautiful scarves, by the way :)
@rey0girl The green/blue scarf and the shades of pink scarf were both made with just one skein of red heart (super saver) yarn (can be found at Walmart with the skein names of plum pudding and banana berry). I just made it almost until it ran out, but I left enough to finish off and make tassels with. Also I made them on the red loom, but any size would work The fluffy looking kid scarf was made with sensation rainbow boucle (found at Jo-Ann fabrics). It was made on the small blue loom.
Just wanted to tell you that if you do an overhand knot with both strands of yarn held together and push the knot close to your initial first two knots they will never come loose or undone.
I wanted to ask you how the scarf feels (thickness-wise) since your only using one strand of yarn to knit it with on the loom? I guess I'm curious if it's better with one strand or with two?
@hatpit Sure. With one strand, once you take it off the loom and the scarf is laying flat it feels like double thickness since one side of the tube is laying on top of the other. You can use two strands for an extra warm super thick scarf.
@starnstv I tried it both ways and I think I like doing it with one strand instead of two. With two strands it feels way too bulky, but with one strand it is much softer.
@mguerra6 Thanks! Yes they are pom poms. If you go to my video on knitting a loom hat with pom pom Part II it will show you how to make a pom pom. If you use the fluffier yarn they will look all puffy like that. I leave the strings you tie the pom pom with long, then thread them both on a yarn needle and sew them onto the end of the scarf. Hope that helps.
I LOVE YOU!!! Thank you so much! I've spent so long trying to find a simple tutorial for making stripes and this video is perfect.

What is the difference between wrapping twice like in the videos and three like the instructions that comes with the loom?

loveisabel19iscool 6 months ago
@loveisabel19iscool Yes. I make a slip knot at the beginning but after about 10 rows you can remove it and let it hang down below your project.

How many skeins of yarn did you use for the variegated scarves you showed in the beginning of the video? I really like the way the colors look.
Thanks, your videos are very helpful, can't wait to start making a few of these scarves myself.
