I've been in Lebanon last summer and it was one of the most beautiful countries I've ever seen! I haven't visit Tripoli though but I will definitely will when I return! I met a lot of very nice people, both muslims and christians! To anyone wondering whether to visit Tripoli or not I can say that I was there a month ago and liked it a lot. Don't compare it with Beirut, this is the place to go to experience more of the typical Middle East flavor. You'll meet wonderful people, enjoy the cafes and bars in El-Mina, taste absolutely fantastic sweet pastries and who knows what else? Think it won't be long before tourists find Tripoli...

Guys calm down, we are all lebanese .The dispute we just had is a reflection of the sectarian system we are living in. Tripoli, especially the old city is an open air museum where you can find in every corner something representing the variety of cultures and civilizations that have influenced this city throughout its history

The middle east will always be looked up and described in terms of who had the most recent and long influence on the region which happens to be the Ottoman empire (Turks) who just happen to be Muslims and reigned over the region for centuries. Currently it is in a sad situation giving the political unrest and recent invasion. Lebanon is considered to be the pearl of the Middle East by many Arabs. Maybe that is why no one is willing to compromise over her. Her beauty is but a curse it would seem.

my parents are from mountains in lebanon. we went during the same summer that the aiports were bombed. we had to escape by ship to turkey then to germany then to georgia, and finally to florida.
