@moviemasochist - unfortunately you are incorrect Msrs Morrisey and Marr wrote the song and lyrics in 1984 realeased as a "B" side to William and have since sold their souls to the devil by agreeing to it being used in a John Lewis advert. The Dream Academy covered for FBDO and could only dream of writing something this brilliant.

Catch the day meaning, that every moment you live is unique and could never be repeated. Go outside, see the world, do silly things, do good things, do crazy things, help a friend, help a stranger, laugh at yourself, give a smile, make others smile but hurt no one. Live life at its fullest because you will go through it just once.

The 70's and 80's weren't as great as the music would tend to believe. We had doubts and fears, but we had hope.
