  • badabada bwiiing bada

  • good good film...

    u must watch!!!!!

  • Fun,adventure, romance, beauty, sadness, innocence, encapsulation of the end of senior year for alot of people. It has to end; you don't want it too but it must so slowly and gently you let it play out. Thank you John Hughes for this movie and especially the art museum scene. It is genius.

  • What song is this? It's very pretty.

  • @onewholovesbooks "Please, please, please let me get what I want" (it's in the description below the video). I agree, beautiful song.

  • @Teppic5 Sorry, I am a bit slow. :) I am a blonde sometimes.

  • Aaaaaaah , music to cum to thinkin of ellen t....sad but she's fukin beautiful and sooo lovely

  • Ferris Bueller...THE teen movie of the 80s.

Not as deep and dark as Breakfast Club but not as campy as Sixteen Candles.

  • @03030303 SIXTEEN CANDLES RULED!!...the scene with Jake towards the end....."She's married??"........seconds later (through the door)......"MAAAAAYYYYYIIIIIIEEEEDDD"...that film at quite a few "rich" scenes

  • So for once in my life, let me, let me, get what i want. xx

I love the way it fitted into Ferris Buellers Day Off, such a wonderfully random film ;)

  • @ohmuhstars He's a twat.

  • thumbs up if family guy brought u here

  • Excellent movie! I love the part when they go in the museum. Its like they have not a care in the world before they hit reality again,,although their reality is quite good in the long run

  • One of my favourite movies of all time. So many memorable lines, and great characters. All John Hughes movies usually were the same. It's about about 26 years old now. People will still talk about it in another 26 years.

  • I'll say it's hard to find, YouTube is the only place I have found it. Love the movie which I'm watching now as I eat dinner and the song. Thanks for sharing.

  • I'd rarther eat my own spleen than listen to Morrisey. However he did spawn this great song.

  • @Emissary633 Although I disagree with you, I had to laugh at your funny comment.

  • If it takes a film, an advert or simply the playing of the song on the radio to discover new music in any form - what difference does it make? How many people will download Morrisey's original version now. I say if the music is good to for you then let it be!

  • i was there when morrissey wrote the lyrics ,he was eating cabbage and telling me all about the fluff he found in his bellybutton as he scribbled away on a notebook.

  • @moviemasochist - unfortunately you are incorrect Msrs Morrisey and Marr wrote the song and lyrics in 1984 realeased as a "B" side to William and have since sold their souls to the devil by agreeing to it being used in a John Lewis advert. The Dream Academy covered for FBDO and could only dream of writing something this brilliant.

  • Great film, great melody, even better with the lyrics over the top by the greatest band......The Smths

  • @BCrusco Hate to be douche, but it was Dream Academy that did this, Morissey covered it. Sorry again for being a douche!!!

  • @MovieMasochist Thats ok mate, didn't realise The Smiths covered it. Will have to listen to the original, but still The Smiths version is wicked.

  • @BCrusco

Loads of artists have covered this song but the Smiths did write it originally.

  • @BCrusco The Smiths wrote it.

  • I just saw the Family Guy tribute to Ferris Bueller right now and decided to look for this song... sweet

  • high-waisted trousers and shoulder pads

  • Graaaaaaccceeeeee!!!! Lol

  • this song makes me feel...i cant even describe it....its like theres something inside of me thats so beautiful, but I cant understand what it is or truly examine it...

  • @DataSe7en Think you need to grow a ballsack. and the feeling is probably because this song is by the smiths.

  • @Joobs1010

    lmao

  • I just wanna cry.

  • my favourite scene in the whole film ^^ love it !

  • I fucking knew it! And here I thought I was crazy it was the smiths.

  • wow, I can't believe I'm just now making the connection....

  • I knewit sounded a shitload like please please please

  • EPIC

  • Stewie brought me here

  • This is an instrumental version of a song by the band The Smiths titled "Please Please Please, Let Me Get What I Want." You think this soundtrack version is good, just wait until you hear Morrissey sing it with brilliant lyrics.

  • Great Song

  • Yearning for my childhood now, back before everything revolved around material. Never thought the world was this screwed up when I was a kid. Lived through cancer at 13 yeas old for this. Dear God.

  • Love it, love it, love it!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I wish it was longer.

  • The obo-part is exellent!! :) (from 0:42)

  • This song is just musical brilliance. So fitting to the scene aswell.

  • The non-instrumental version is equally cool

  • thank you, I love this song. It always gives me chills and many inexplicable good things

  • I played this with please please get what i want at the same time and IT WAS AMAZING

  • I could listen to this all day...

  • @GrowingUp80z I 2nd that

  • Raise your hand if you need a day off o/

  • @eightwasntenuff....Nice......

  • Dunno if I creditted your help yet, but used here:

    eLAoYoOI2DY

  • still in my top 5 movies : )

  • Dude... I have the first picture thats in the video on my wall, and its signed by Matthew Brodewick himself! ;D

  • love the original smiths version and dream academy's version is just as good...i heard dream academy's version on the weather channel once and it stuck in my head ever since... such a beautiful song... and morrissey is probably one of the greatest song writers ever...

  • Where can I buy this song?

  • My best friend looks like Matthew Brodrick. And my cousin looks exactly like Cameron....I used to think they were the same person.

  • 18 people are deaf!

  • I guess Ferris Bueller´s day off, is one of those movies that you will recommend to watch not only for its comedy but for its Carpe Diem theme. Catch the day meaning, that every moment you live is unique and could never be repeated. Go outside, see the world, do silly things, do good things, do crazy things, help a friend, help a stranger, laugh at yourself, give a smile, make others smile but hurt no one. Live life at its fullest because you will go through it just once.

  • HOW COULD YOU NOT LIKE THIS?

  • It sounds like a sad song. Like when u lose someone close.

  • @Sagi718 bitersweet. Like you lost something, but remember all the great things you had with it

  • @slugworth99 - perfect words... exactly what it feels like...

  • @slugworth99 You are so right! There is a distinct feeling to the song. You nailed it....

  • Bwaaa ha ha ha, shard and 7777 are hilarious with their comments below.

  • Very nice. Thank you for sharing. 

  • You know, I was just watching Ferris Bueller again and this scene came on and I was like WAIT A MINTUE! Haha This is such an amazing song, I love the Smiths :)

  • B4 the wars and before 9/11 we had innocence! So many want a time machine to go back. What about those that can make change...Do So! The 70's and 80's weren't as great as the music would tend to believe. We had doubts and fears, but we had hope. Absorbed in selfworth I think we thought about our future but not in terms of future growth. This music must stimulate past and present minds to realize the potential of our lives and assist what can be the regrowth!

  • /ignore trolls.

Moving on, I love this song dearly! Not only was Ferris Bueller one of the best movies I've ever seen, but the band is equally great! 5 Stars!

  • @Yanchea I agree I still love this song its so beautiful if someone can send me a link as to where i can purchase this song i would greatly appreciative

    Robert

    Houston,Tx

  • @LETMEINGUYS I used mediaconverter . org... its not entirely legal but It worked for me, just type in the adress and download as an mp3 ^_^ Hope this helps!

  • Sooo... Nice song?

  • Thanks for making & posting this up, brings back some nice memories.

  • WOW so many memories, god I loved the 80'S,wish I had a time machine lol

  • There is NO DVD of the film!!!!! The Directors thought the song combination's were too obscure for the times...stupid, they would have made a fortune!

  • You can ABSOLUTELY find this instrumental version (As heard in Ferris Bueller's Day Off) on a mixed album called "Boutique Chill" released in 2005. Can be special ordered through Barnes & Nobles here in the states, or online

  • Sure it's a Smiths song covered by the Dream Academy but if it wasn't for Ferris we wouldn't be having this conversation. To paraphrase Ferris, like life, it might have passed us by. Just enjoy the great memories....

  • It's a SLIDE SHOW. :::sigh::: and this is not "Ferris Bueller Art Museum Song", this is "Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want", written by Morrissey and the Smiths, and covered here by The Dream Academy. Please, Please, PLEASE SHOW SOME RESPECT.

  • @Berus7777 Most people come here simply to listen to the music and enjoy the memories.

Buy the DVD of the film, or do you expect everything you want handed to you on a silver platter through the erfforts of others who go to the trouble of making these videos for people to enjoy?

  • @Maxshard Maxshard, you didn't "make" this video - no one "made" this video, because first, it isn't a VIDEO, it's a SLIDE SHOW. This could be made in Powerpoint. Also, SURPRISE: THIS IS YOUTUBE AND I'm ALLOWED TO POST MY OPINION. Also, I DO own this film, AND I own Dream Academy CD's. Also, if you're going to post this, POST THE CORRECT INFORMATION.

  • @Berus7777 Sorry if I upset you youngster. I can tell by your volumous use of capital letters, as you bawl at me like a kid, thast you are probabaly aged around ten, yes?

  • @Maxshard Curses! You've seen through my subterfuge and unmasked me for the pre-pubescent troll that I am! Still, it's a pity you misspelled the words "voluminous", "that", and "probably". There's also that troubling, grammatical nightmare of a sentence with which you concluded. Tell me, do you often end your declarative sentences with a question mark? (PRO TIP: The "yes?" should've been a sentence unto itself.) eg. You are a high school drop-out. Yes?

  • @Berus7777 Sorry about the typos, I wrote the post whilst drunk and was relying on the rather dim light of my computer screen to write by, I guess you were relying on dimness to stumble into a mistake too.

'Volumous' is a seperate word from 'voluminous'. Any lexicographer could inform you of that. There's another new word for you lad.

  • @Maxshard Max, Max, Max. First; I'm 49. Born Sept 28th, 1961. Second, you and I BOTH know you didn't intend the term "volumous", and that you are backpeddling by citing an arcane usage to cover up your mistake. Your first sentence was a run-on sentence. You compound this by dangling a preposition ("too") at the end.

It must be excruciating to have an older yank giving you lessons in the Queen's, especially one who is better versed in British pop than yourself.

  • @Berus7777 Your indulgence in using my name three times, indicates that you are upset, not triumphant, as your pompous post would suggest, Your use of capital letters also indicates a loss of temper. You clearly don't have the gumption or wish to look up the word volumous, which I used in perfect context. You are sadly being argumentative in a child like manner, which leads me to believe that you are not one year older than my profile, which you have scanned. And your final line, oh dear!.

  • @Maxshard This IS getting boring. Now you're struggling with the use of caps to stress certain words within the context of a sentence. It's nothing to do with anger -- it's about expression. Now, as to your skepticism regarding my age; what would you accept as proof? I am a 49 year old gay man living in San Francisco. As for my knowledge of music, there are reasons for that. However, if you don't even believe my age, we might as well forgo that discussion. So then; what proof?

  • @Maxshard By the way (and just for my own edification); why did you start this row? What are (or were) you defending? Did you think I attacked Dream Academy for covering a Smith's track? No... this is a wonderful cover. I have no problem with that. My original post was placed here to decry the use of this track without proper attribution to either The Smiths or Dream Academy. This slide show was VERY tacky, and disrespectful to both artists involved in the music, as well as John Hughes.

  • @Berus7777 The slide show pays homage to the film and it is you who are being disrespectful to the person who felt moved enough to compile it. Do you imagine that if a fan of the film presented their video to John Hughes and told him how much they admired the film, that HE would tell them they were being disrespectful. It is you who are also being disrespectful to the memory of John Hughes, by attempting to defend your daft comments using his death to hide behind. You atre shameless.

  • @Maxshard Max, you're a damn idiot, and I'm finished trying to reason with you. When someone makes a film, they do NOT want it warped by someone afterward. Did you watch the bit with Cameron? I studied film, and I actually make short (3-5 minute) films. For anyone who creates a film, that film becomes like a child - you don't want to see it bastardized or twisted into someone's "tribute". This piece is a monstrosity. I'm afraid I'm not going to relent on this point.

  • @Berus7777 You just carry on with your pompous edicts then. I guess as a self-promoted 'expert', who clearly regards his critiques as more valid than the opinions of others, you must be so incredibly right.

I say this, because, as I presume you are one of the tiny minority of people who hit the dislike button for this video, as opposed to the vast majority who have enjoyed it, you are just better than the rest of us, yes?

  • @Maxshard Max, while Youtube is a sort of "bulletin board" onto which anyone may post a video, it's also a forum for discussion and feedback about those videos. That's why these comments are enabled. I post favorable comments when I enjoy or find merit in something, and I also give criticism, particularly when I feel someone hasn't shown regard in their treatment of something near and dear to my heart. If he liked this song, shouldn't he at least learn the name of it, and its writer?

  • @Berus7777 You're grasping at straws and drowning here but I almost admire you ability to take punishment when on the ropes.

Doesn't it occur to you that the person who compiled this montage did so out of respect and the same love for the film that you profess to have? They took time out and made an effort to produce something for others to share and enjoy, then they are attacked for it, in a quite insensitive way, by you?

You are being discourteous to their passion.

  • @Maxshard Max, let's review: First, I exposed the fact that you can't spell. Next, I exposed the fact that you're unable to compose grammatically correct English sentences. After having this pointed out, you were STILL unable to correct this, and have continued to use run-on sentences and mispellings to state your overly emotionalized, misguided attempts to correct me and refuse my right to critical comment. YOU are the one grasping, in defeat, at straws. How now, little man?

  • @Berus7777 You have resorted to childishness and are clearly bereft of any legitimate argument with which to defend your original and further attacks on the person, who, with great sincerity, created this video. I don't believe such a beautiful piece of work should be plagued by controversy or this ongoing 'debate'.

If you are a last word freak, then have your last words and goodbye.

  • @Maxshard Max, I don't want this to end... don't leave me here, writhing in the wet quagmire of your verbal ejaculate. Linger but a bit longer, and let us while away the hours together, entwined in this delicious tango. Tell me, Max, are you a top, or bottom?

  • @Maxshard Max, one other thing; have you looked at the user profile page for the fellow who posted this slideshow? His wallpaper is the American version of "The Office". Now, if THAT doesn't tell you something about how tasteless this individual is, I don't know what will. Surely you, of all people, will admit that the American version was a poor imitation. As I said before; no respect for the original.

  • whats the name of this song and whos it by?? any one know

  • @monkeyclann500 It's by Dream Academy. An instrumental cover of The Smith's Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want. You won't really find it anywhere except in the Ferris Bueller movie.
