  • Sorry to hear about your problems with the service. I've been with Virgin Media for almost 2 years and never had a problem. I'm on the internet using the 50 meg broadband. Sometimes the service does have a few hiccups at some point but not all the time. If for any reason if the problem persists.. just back out and leave. Find another service provider.

  • i like the look of new virgin box, but i cant go with virgin as im not sure its reliable, will it work with xbox live or will games lag, will it work with multi wifi connections, will the new box do what it should without problems. i want something that works, i dont want to know how to fix something, or phone any call centres.

  • Get on to the VM help forum and make your own post. It wont get you real help but at least your registering a complaint and you don't feel your suffering alone. Ring them upbut don't accept BS answers. Someone should then organise a petition aimed at VM top management. Also inform the press. My service is just as slow between 5 - 11 usually.

  • I have Virgin Media 50MBit Cable Broadband and it's absolutely brilliant. 50 Meg Download 6-ish Meg upload. Never had a problem, and they always pick up the phone when I call them to change anything. Had a slight problem with installation, but it wasn't really their fault, even so I complained to the MD, and received a response the very next day from his office by email and phone, promising they would fix it for me. 5 Star Service in a world of liars and small print scheming companies.   • I totaly Agree with you, Virgin Media internet performance has deteriorated over the last month they F****** Suck now internet speed is so slow webpages take forever to load they need to fix up.

    I visited Pingtest.net took the test my Results were Packet loss: 55% Ping 1000+ Jitter 1000+ WTF.

  • @ecotts - Agreed. Virgin were so bad that I was more than willing to pay for a BT line to get away from them after being a customer since 2003. With BT's 8mbps ADSL service I now get 5-6mbps down whatever time of day it is and 400kbps up. With Virgin's *20mbps* service it was as low as 2mbps down at times, and 350mbps up. Add appalling customer service to that and you have a really shitty service that I was glad to be rid of.

  • pll virgin media have started limiting big time for downloading illegel torrents im on a 10mb/s connection and when downloading for the first 10mins its ok thn virgin catch on to what im downloading and stop me be reducing my connection to a poor 800kb/s, today it got worse as they did this for a good several hours and i couldnt get on msn without it signing me out 2secs later or gettin onto google took a poor 20seconds

Consistantly down too, and then i have to pay to ring them about their problems, so in a way they are financially rewarded by their piece of shit service.   • @matgomad Yes, Virgin were formed in 2007 when NTL and TeleWest Broadband merged and were renamed Virgin Media. Up to that point I was with TeleWest and as soon as it became Virgin Media, connection speed and customer service went down the toilet and stayed there.

  • i have had VM BB 20mbit service for 12mths and can honestly say i have only ever DL @ 2mbits in all the time i have used it. So in may 2008 im off getting ADSL @ 3.5mbits for 7 quid/mth unmetered no limits so virgin go fuck yourselfs big time rip off bastards. oh thats just the same for every consumer service you get in this shit country fucking pisses me right off no end

  • make sure you use Ethernet to connect to your computer instead of USB as this can impact on your connection speed.

    I've been a Virgin Media customer since it was rebranded from Telewest and NTL. Infact, I was a United Artists customer from 1994 and never had a problem whatsoever with UA or Telewest. I've had continuous problems with Virginmedia and the irony is before if you wanted technical support you got a native English speaker for free (150) now you get bad assistance paying premium telephone rates for the privelege. Get lost Shaggy Branson!

    2. Give them 6 months of semi decent access.

    3. After 6 months, reduce connection speeds to less than dial up.(Proven utilising 5 seperate connections, 1kbps most of the time)

    4. This makes the consumer cancel their account.

    5. Virgin claim "no 12 month contract"....wrong.

  • Well depending on how long you've been working with our tech support team you will be able to get credit to your account,theres not a long time left before we improve in february but thats unoffical however likely. 25p a minute tech calls need to be done,so write into Head Office with a copy of your phone bill, and ask them to refund all call charges to tech support.Also call me on 08450450709 ask for stewart and i will give you a month goodwill.

  • hiya mate, if you havent left Virgin Already, things have either just got alot worse or alot better for you.

    They've brought in this thing called Traffic Shaping which all their Tech guys have been harping on that it'll solve everyones problems... however any connection that streams data is throttled to 512kbps between4pm and midnight, so no more Youtube, VoIP, Gaiming or much else really.

  • slower than dial up in most cases and people are being told by broadband customer services in india(now at least 25p per min) that its not virgins fault and to reboot modem and if that does not work wait 48 hours and if still no joy they put it down to a fault with the customers brand new pc's.

  • BT is expensive and you have their line rental to pay on top tiscali say 8mb unlimited i phoned their tech people up and asked about a daily limit and they said 1GB/day for peak times (5hrs) and truely unlimited for the other 19hrs of the day. £20 + 08 calls free line rental

  • I have to agree, loose the toolbars.

    i actually install for v.media. You need to make sure your signal levels are correct. if there too high or too low this causes major disruptions with your broadband and TV.

    Your installation tech should have tested these when installing but 9 times out of 10 they dont.

  • is that a an ebay toolbar you have there, i had it too and i had the same problem. Try removing all toolbars. you could always f8 on boot up and go into safe mode and see how the connection speed is that way ,and that will give you more of an idea if it is your machine infected with spyware/ viruses etc that is causing this slow connection.

  • F8 "safe mode"? I think you;ll find this is a Macintosh he's using here; ain't no safe mode needed in a Unix-based OS matey!
