Best most readily available players with which to choose Dust soldiers from?

Those that have played MAG on PS3. Easily. MAG is a game based on teamwork to get the job done and it used sheer numbers as its focal point.

Worst players to use? Any CoD player. Going "rambo" against 32 well organized, poised and very familiar pll will be a feat.

I still have one question. Will I be able to nuke the planet from orbit? what will be the effect of a 425mm antimatter round either impacting or air bursting, or are dreads the only ships that will have surface attack ability? Dust still looks like some ill conceived crap that should be aborted for focus on FIS. At the very least CCP should get to walking in stations before they give the world another FPS.

@Skoomax The alliances in EVE are constantly at war. System Sovereignty changes hands on a daily basis. There are a dozen or so planets per system. Also, there is NPC factional warfare. War is not something EVE lacks.

@WINxTEC that's a bit of a presumption there, they'd have DUST spread over so many servers, EVE spread over so many servers, and a server that relays the information between the two...

Unless CCP went hardmode and DID integrate both servers into a single stack of servers... in which case I'm pissed because they could have spent more time on finishing the game and releasing it, rather than doing something overly complex...

But that's just my opinion kind sir.

@WINxTEC I didn't disagree with that, however the way you phrased it earlier on, it makes it seem like you think the PS3 and PC games have the same coding, that PC RTS games and PS3 FPS use the same amount of resources (I.R.T. server load that is), that EVE is based on a single server instead of 3 servers (comprised of something like 14 - 16 stacks), and that for some reason they were going to put all the data, all the server load strain, on an server that already has a lot.

@xXRaidenSnakeXx I think I heard something about that once but I heard that Xbox rejected CCP from the start so they had to go to Sony for it. Plus at the time the PSN was down and Sony needed something(Almost anything) that'll help restore it reputation or whatever. Now PC I'm not 100% sure about but it will be on there eventually once it comes out and depending on sales.

@Idgarad. Capsulleers (eve pilots) never go on planets. We stay in ships or stations. So would not be competing with you mercs for space. rather paying you to attack and defend planetside assets.

And from the fact some of the guys from the original battlefield games such as bf2 and bf2142 are working on it apparently those large ships look suspiciously like the titans out of 2142........(do a quick search there is a 2 part vid somewhere on youtube that explains that...could have changed since of course)

Dust 514 will fail because of the Sony platform only. If it was multi platform, PC + Console, I think it would be by-far better. It would unite the two communities in a way that's never been done before.

Something about supperior accuracy of mouse and keyboard? =)

@goodsnpr I don't know about getting blown away. My brother and I are very good computer & console users. We're both awesome FPS, in the top 100 in CoD BlackOps, and back in the day, we were top 50 in Halo 3.

I think they're a bit more worried about hackers, people using aim bots, map hacks, the sorts. But you have to admit, merging the 2 communities would be an awesome achievement for CCP.

@IEGEX CCP says they're worried about cheats, yet if you look at youtube videos of cheats, most are on console instead of PC, which makes me laugh. The mouse and keyboard are just way too accurate/fast compared to joystick aiming, and the console mouse/keyboard adaptions do not work effeciently (otherwise I would game more on consoles). Would be neat if MW3 or BF3 did a trial run at a 3 way battle.

@propjam2 Don't worry mate. If DUST 514 is a success on release (which I think it will be) then it will be supported for as long as EVE Online is supported (It's been around since 2003 and it's STILL active!) because they are two games which are tied in with one another. So, when the PlayStation 4 comes out, the game will definitely be updated eventually to have better graphics/visuals/rendering times etc.

Before that happens though, DUST 514 will be given LOTS of FREE, HUGE expansions/DLCs.

Overal if it is going to be released on ps3 then they really need to have a sick hot graphics update to push it back in the limelight for ps4. As for the timeline I started playing eve in 2009I hope they keep on building stuff. I would play the game more if you could do stuff like smuggling and micro managing colonies like simcity, but I want the moon on a stick!

Who ever says fps suck on consoles is absolutely clueless. If they sucked, every other game wouldn't be an FPS...If one thinks that the best of console gaming is Mario Bros., then one is way out of touch regarding console gaming. The vast majority of play time on consoles is dedicated to FPS gaming, followed by other action adventure and sports gaming, with racing titles following.
