@domdomdom1993 ! have installed Linuxmint12 now because i like them better, i had the same problem, but i have installed a driver and its ok now, but thank you for the reply anyway!
My Network Applet doesn't display my network despite my desktop being within reasonable distance of my Access Point (Router). I have a Ralink RT2070 USB Wi-Fi Adapter for Internet connectivity for that computer because it is too old for a built-in PCI card. I am running Ubuntu 10.10 i386 (32 bit). Any tips?
idk what to do. it tells me something bout missing firmware, idk what its talkin about. im running ubuntu with my windows 7, model name is dell inspiron 1545
@thejoesteiger well i knew i had to download something, i just dont know which drivers to download , i also dont know where to look. i tried searching some stuff yesterday, but didnt find anything.
@jason66027 I searched, couldn't find anything. You can try plugging in the computer to your router, then going to system, administration, additional driver. See if it detected drivers for you.
Can i ask u a very helpful question, on my computer im currently running linux ubuntu, on windows 7 before it had picked up my wireless im running linux ubuntu 10.10 (most recent) and its telling me it doesnt pick up my wireless driver, i've tried many thingz and have asked many others and am getting frustrated by the lack of internet, an also my computer is a toshiba satellite L665 which has been know for having this problem may you PLEASE help me because "nowadayas" i dunno who to to turn to
Under the network connections icon in the corner it shows your wireless networks, it doesn't show mine and i can't connect to it in ubuntu. I'm dual booting ubuntu with windows 7 but I can actually connect to my wireless network connection, and it detects it in windows seven. What's the problem.
@thejoesteiger networking is enabled, but I'm not sure how to download wireless drivers. I found that my Acer 5532 has a wireless button and although it automatically turns orange (ON) when i boot up Windows 7, I can't even press it and turn on the wireless when in Ubuntu. The light just stays off so I can't turn on wireless. Is there anyway to fix this?
Hey Joe, I have a quick question. I'm wanting to install ubuntu on my family computer, although I cannot seem to get my netgear wg311v3 wireless adapter to work with linux. I've been searching for a solution for quite a while and had no luck. Any ideas?
Thank you!!!!!!!

0bama132 1 week ago
@0bama132 You probably have to manually install wireless drivers. You will need to google what drivers you need specifically for your computer.

@ToastAndSausage If you go to system > administration > hardware drivers, are wireless drivers listed? Be sure to connect to a wired connection.

@KrAzYMaSoN99 If you right click, is wireless/networking enabled? You may not have wireless drivers installed.
