I like Rodrigo and Gabriela's music but this has to be a humbling experience for them. If they only knew that Al Di Meola had played this same piece with Paco de Lucia and John McLaughlin, being the nice people R&G are, I'm sure they would have declined out of respect to the guitar greats.
No disrespect to Rodrigo & Gabriela but they are novices aka rank amateurs and should not be sharing the same stage with Al Di Meola. Take away R&G fancy (& silly & annoying) flashy techniques and in actual fact you have two very mediocre players.
@chemoman1 actually I speak fact! Calling someone a retard is very childish & unfortunately does not hide that fact. Rodrigo & Gabriela are not great guitarists only an idiot would think so, again take away theur flashy stuff they really are not that good & compared to Al Di Meola both are very mediocre. *I fart very fiercely in your general direction*
@CloudsBeyond It's like sayin "if all di meola didn't play all those scales, he would be a mediocre guitarrist". It's part of their style dumbass. You might niot like it, but ist's definitely not easy to perform. And comparing guitarrists is...dumb to say the least. Music is not about technique, or better or worse. it's about the godamn, freakin M-U-S-I-C. So do a favor, stop comparing. Al doesn't care. RyG don't care. No one cares.
I don't mean to be dense, but what exactly is a "regular tuner." I have one of these things where you can clip a pick-up onto a stringed instrument and when you pluck one string by itself it will tell you if that one string is in tune. I don't know how something like that would work with many strings being played at once.
@MoarOfTehRawkege Ok. I understand now. I have one of those things with a pick-up on a cord that clips to the guitar or harp and has a needle that tells you when each string is in tune. But then you set it aside when you are done. I didn't know that some people left the device on the instrument all the time.
The great man shows them up big time. They have got such a long, long way to go to reach his level of accomplishment in every sense, timing, melodic phrasing and compositional ability to name but three. I like the NCX's though!
Very nice. I have listened to DiMeola since Return to Forever days and seen him live many times. Just recently I became hooked on Rodrigo y Gabriela after hearing them kick butt on the tonight show. What is really amazing is how Rodrigo y Gabriela worked their way up from being homeless in Dublin and playing in the street for change to where they are now in a few short years.

After a couple of minutes rod and gab just disappear AL is too much.

No offense to Al, but that sounds much better when Paco De Lucia plays it.
Nonetheless, much love to the man and Rodrigo y Gabriella as well.

@Eliasoz
it's not Paco's main thing btw and this Sundance theme is originally Al di Meola's composition.

Kind of rude for the stage hand to yank the guitar out of Al Di's hands at the end.

Al Di...wow.

What is that object clipped to the head of Al's guitar? Does anyone know?
kenp3L 1 year ago
@kenp3L - it's a tuner.

What is a tuner? Does it somehow keep the strings in tune? I thought that one needed to turn the tuning pegs to do that.
kenp3L 1 year ago
@kenp3L It's just a regular tuner dude. It's attached to the neck and it works exactly like any other tuner.

@kenp3L .....It's a thing that when you pluck the strings, it tells you whether or not it's out of tune....it's not like magic or something.
