Completely agree with Faraaz89. It is Divine love of Allah and his Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) which shows in poetry of our iconic Urdu poets. Ghalib was in love with Allah, his poetry clearly shows do mind other stuff (meykhana), it was just for show. Read his poetry and U will know. Iqbal, read Shikwa and Jawaab-e-Shikwa, amazging! I recommend, Aziz Mian' version of Iqbal's Shikwa, it is on youtube. Rumi, another iconic poet!! Subhanallah to RFAK for singing this Ghalib ghazal, just pure bliss!
Have anybody off you been intoxicated with ishq e khuda. Feel it, search it, you will find it inside you. To understand Rumi, Hafiz, Ghalib, Iqbal, Faiz, Feraz you have to be intoxicated by devine love. This is a war against jahil mullah, and true love towards Qura'n, rasool and God.
Rahat often makes proounciation mistakes In a very banal interview with Nadia Khan , he calls the raag Pooriya Dhaneshree Pooriya Dhana Sari...it sounded kind of crazy......I never had the courage to pin-point till now..
I believe Rahat Fateh Ali khan is on his way to add the title Ustad to his name like his late Uncle with this performance. I live in Hyderabad, Deccan, India working for an IT company and was amazed to know how many of my colleagues apprecaited this composition. I guess this is one of the best i have heard.
Very nice job done by Rahat. Mazaa aa gaya. Can someone Please! upload Koi Umeed Bar Nahi Aati by Ali Zafar sung on some PTV gathering, Ghulam Ali khan was also there. I hope Dr. Bukhari Saheb can help me find this ghazal sung by Ali Zafar.
I want to record my appreciation and thanks for Dr. Bokhari who in the love for humanity keeps uploading such items. Despite minor criticism here and there from KhalidAsgharRadioPak, Chamogaa (Vipan Bhai) and myself, I admire this valuable task of bringing to lime light, the poetry of Ghalib, a great intellectual and philosophical poet from this sub continent. Such familiar styles of singing are far more effective in propagating the poetry among masses than sophisticated or selected forums.
I join in that warm note of thanks to our friend Dr, Bukhari. My joy on YT is not only derived from listening to musical uploads but also from exchanging ideas on the related topics of literature and broader culture. This page is a good example of such extended conversations.
Yes, chamogaa (Vipin Bhai), *lovehumanity* desrves my appreciation for up load of this Qawwali. To my views, a discussion always starts, when it has any worth. All comments are for the general information of YouTube members. Thanks to Dr. Bokhari. Khalid Asghar.
*lovehumanity* Dr. Bokhari Bhai up loaded thid Qawwali with great efforts (10.45 mts). It is nice to see Naseer ud din Shah, a genuine great artist of Indian Filr Industry and i am his fan. He has INDIVIDUAL style, voice and dialogue delivrey. but i have not good views about this Qawwali.rahat lost required frequency of notes(sang BE SUR) & selection of 02 verses were disgusting, also pronunciation mistakes. Perhaps, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan left this genre at the TOP. Farrukh bashir knows well.
Khalid Bhai, you are right about the singer's loss of control over some notes . The cadence becomes overwhelmed by a bit of shrieking. I can still enjoy the melodic phrase Koi Ummeed Par Nahin Aati and subsequent refrains based on it,but the rest feels like an obstacle course at times. Each time I try to listen, the quwwali is also frequently interrupted , so I can't tell where the pronunciation went wrong, but I fully trust your attentive ears on that issue.
Thanks dear chamogaa (Vipan Bhai). My problem is, am a great fan of Lata Ji ans Mehdi Hassan on my first choice. Then serving music, a lot, cannot appreciate unnessary. The ghazal of Ghalib was superb. But the verse * Bak Raha Hon* should have not been included. This was Ghalib expression for him. Then the correct pronunciation is * NIQAB* & not NAQAB. Very rare people knows this pronuciation, being the *GHALAT UL AAM* The main singer has inability to be the LEAD VOICE in Qawwali, in my view.
I agree. Singers have to be careful not to repeat the errors of common folk when rendering refined poetry. See how many people in common speech turn the Farsi "saheb" into sahab or even saab( That last is a Swedish car's name.Ha,ha). It's very common among us Punjabis. My own name should be Vipin in proper Sanskrit, but in Punjabi it was transformed into Vipan It's been my legal name since childhood. And, yes, the exclusion of the uncouth couplet from the quwwali would have been right as well.
Vipan Bhai, the right couplet is "Koi Ummeed Bar Nahin Aati." May be he has incorrectly sung it as "Par Nahin Aati". In between he has sung as a common mistake "Dil Ke Behlanay Ko Ghalib Ye Khayal Achha Hai " which is actually "Dil Ke Khush Rakhney Ko Ghalib Ye Khayal Achha Hai " in all copies of Deevan e Ghalib. These minor differences spoil the poetic beauty.
A critic Abdul Rehman Bijnouri has said about Ghalib that there are two books of intuition which have descended in India.(cont.)
The first is the divine ved, the sacred scripture of Hindus, and the second is Deevan e Ghalib. What a great poet he was.
All said and done, I give a great credit to this Qawalli singer Mr. Rahat Ali Khan who has at least made a reasonable attempt to introduce Ghalib and his difficult poetry to masses in a common style. That is a great contribution.
Thanks, Qasim Bhai. I did enjoy the first part very much. There I notice again now that it was the correct "bar." Today I am able to hear everything without interruption unlike yesterday when too many people must have been listening at the same time, so I couldn't get things straight. And delighted to see your corrections in the singer's the kalam. Tusi is taranh de ilm te liaqat de zariye sanun saareyan noon bahot ahamiyad wali madad ditti e.
Chamogaa ji, yakin karo sadey uttay thadi kabliyat di ainy dehshat pey gai ae ke assi thadey naal gal karan toun vi dardey aan. nice cocktail of Ghalib's poetry....just for correctness, i found two mistakes
"haq tu yeh hai k haq ada na hoa" correct one is "haq tu yun hai k haq ada na hoa"
"dil k bhelanay ko ghalib yeh khayal acha hai" correct one is "dil k kush rakhny ko ghalib yeh khayal acha hai"
