OK let me settle this debate!

First of all yes torrents are illegal (in the US at least)

Second - Most musicians/DJs/etc... do not make much (if any) money from CD's - if they are signed with a label - the label pays to use the tracks in hopes that enough people will buy the CD - they can make money - the musician/DJ/etc don't actually make money from CD sales themselves - now if they are really popular they might get royalties - if the track(s) are used elsewhere.

@oknatora It depends on a matter of convenience. Most people would prefer to have their music on a mp3 player than going to youtube on their computer all the time.

Plus, this serves as a good promotion as some(if not most) people do not even know the artist and his/her style. This could spark an interest in people to seek out the rest of the artist's songs.

@pyrny65 torrents are illegal only if stuff you download is illegal and your country prohibits seeding ^_^. If your country law doesn't care about you seeding, then raping net is all good haha (As long as law doesn't prohibit downloading that is)
