Are there turbo kits? and what kinda fuel economy. I know I can get almost 30 mpg from a 6.2 Chevy, just wondering bout these. But, I could find a 6.2 chevy easier, cause they onlymade 12958190846901236836454 million of them!
@baker967 approximately 30 mpg (if my math is right), not bad. When i drove mine regularly it was all over the place, but it also would be burning #2 diesel, then id fill up with some old heating oil someone gave me, or when kerosene was cheaper i would burn that. Either way it was always in mid to high twenty's.
@jakey756 Cool, but honestly, Id have a Chevy 6.2. The extra power is nice in today's hyper power cars (I mean really, a Toyota camry v6 can do 0-60 in 5.9 seconds). When this truck was made, that was the exclusive domain of Porches and Corvettes. lol. But cool, with gas prices estimated to be inthe 5.00 dollars a gallon range for gas, fuel economy is GOOD!! But I hope Diesel is not as high priced.
@Motorfordtoyota I didn't really buy this for economy. It's just a nice benefit that comes with driving it. I bought it because i paid $100 for it and i was a highschooler then who needed a vehicle. I haven't had it registered for over a year now because the body/frame is in such bad shape. Plus its a lot more fun to say you drove a diesel ranger than a chevy 6.2 (not bashing the 6.2 as i would own one given the proper circumstances) .
@jakey756 true, ture, but Wow, 100 dollars. sweet deal. But kinda sad that the frame is rotting away, they are rare!! Well, reconsiderig the thoughts, I would LOVE to find a Toyota 2L turbo diesel pickup. they are more rare, same with the s-10 diesel!!!
I have a 4 speed. Do you know what kind of transmission the 5 speed is? Or do u know how I can get one? Or which one would fit? Please let me know, I really need the 5 speed here where I live.
@basstech01 Get a T5 from a mustang, higher geared for more speed, and it makes a big diffrence. Had one in my turbo ranger, the only thing that has to be done is the cross member will have to be moved.
Excellent. Do try to get a vidoe of it driving. or even one where we can see it better, i take your point you made to the other guy about you can see what you need to, bu tit'd still be nice to see some more footage of it
1-Yes this is a mazda perkins diesel installed from the factory. 2-I don't plan on selling it anytime soon sense these are so hard to find. However if you poke around you can find them on the internet. Mine has the 5 speed manual which most of them don't have. Most have a 4 speed.
@skoal1541 Yeah, look the fuck out because if one pulls out infront of you, your gonna hit him i you dont slow down!! The diesel rangers are SLOW!! lol, but reliable.
Nice. I haver an 87 turbo diesel that im going to put stacks on. Idk if im going to put two or one. Its going to stand out like a mutherfucker in the school parking lot. Especially when i start it.
How many miles does it have on it? Those little Mazda industrial diesels will literally run FOREVER if you take care of them. A friend's dad just got rid of his '84 diesel Ranger. He bought it brand new in '84 and it had 392,000 miles on it when he sold it a few months ago. Still ran like a champ.
Well that ranger outside of the engine and transmission is pretty shot. Only the oil pressure and temp gauges work. The speedometer doesn't work so the millage is an estimation. the odometer says 26202 and when i talked to the previous owner we are pretty sure its 226,202 miles.
i dont see a video... where is it??

@WildTrikes Do the Mitsubishi turbo diesels have the same bell housing as the mazda/perkins? Cause mints the naturally aspirated mazda/perkins.

@jakey756 not sure, mine wasent deisel, it was just a 2.3 gas turbo motor.
