  • r.i.p. cute woman

  • Why would one need a {licens) to talk with Amateur Radio? And haveing to call out those call numbers and letters that you say your call signsaaaa11 is so lame to me sorry for any insults..

  • GREAT! Lets do it again soon.

  • so sad... tnx wa6ube for all the great videos you made... acknowledge, wa6ube on code qrt...

  • how nice, RIP Elaine.

  • @BunkyOhare thats so sad

  • This must be the "India Delta 10 Tango" DX Club

    damn so sad...

  • Elaine has moved onto 'higher frquencies', 73.... and thanks for this video

  • Funny, the band plan states that 40 meters uses LSB. My radios even take me to the right bandplan mode.

  • ka1wvm john here, always sad to here of another silent key...amature radio is a great hobbie, cell phones and computers are making people lazy, meaning no on wants to study for a license or work for anything anymore, all hams earn their privledge to be on the air, and its sad to hear of the loss on any

11 Mar 2010. With great sadness, I regret to inform that Patricia (Trish) Elaine Gibbons WA6UBE (SK) died in the arms of her spouse last night, of an apparent cardiac problem, while she was out at a coffeehouse get-together with friends.

  • So very very very sad.

  • oh no! sad sad. I just found her today on youtube, never got a chance to get a ham or license.

  • I am sorry to hear the news of the death of Elaine .....WA6URE God bless 73s

  • I just heard this Lady died yesterday. Elaine was a well known operator, even on this side of the Atlantic. RIP and 88.

  • @G0IFI

I just read it myself on QRZ. RIP to another fellow ham and BA lover.

  • Too much RF shrank your brain and probably your penis.

  • Your ignorance entertains me greatly. You CB'ers need to run an illegal 5kW of power just to get the range we do at 50 watts. I look forward to seeing when you receive your $15k fine from the FCC.

  • A camera on a tripod shooting a woman talking to people that in essence say nothing has nearly 70,000 views, amazing. But at least we see and hear the ham unlike many other ham videos that show only the equipment.

  • So cool!!!

  • LOVE IT GREAT VIDEO

  • Hi Elaine, what about us UK operators who cant work outside 7.200!!!!!????

  • Great video.

I think you are the same person with the site about military NVIS antenna systems. I used the information at that site to set up a NVIS system.

    Thanks!

  • o excuse me

am not knok in her but why would you tx usb on 40m ?

  • I thought 4o meters was lower sideband only?

  • Technology today, is "Future Shock" for me. So many types of equipment available, to do so many tricks to communications. Think I'd just like to chat with someone now in then, just like the old days of nostalgia.

  • I have many years on the log. Started in my teens. Made my own equipment from junked TV sets from a local TV Repair shop. Sure met a lot of good people. Miss the CW contacts as well as the AM, DSB, FM, and antenna building. Now I'm an old dude but recently brought a transceiver, but just listen off and on these days. Miss the days of building projects. Technology is too far advanced for me, and my brain plasticity is demenishing, Lol.

    Best wishes to all,

  • The funny thing is I want to get into amateur radio and find it all fascinating but I really think that once I got it all set up... would I have anything to say? What do people talk about?

  • People talk about anything and everything. Hams are never at a loss for things to say. At first, a lot of new hams do more listening than talking. That way, they learn the proper etiquette and local customs. Gradually, hams get into the swing of things and talk up a storm. There are hams all over the world who are more than will to help you get started!!!

  • radio and cell phone can link??

  • I think "Elaine" is a man ! This is typical of what you find in the Ham community. I find Elaine VERY creepy. What's with the glass of milk?

  • Why would you use USB on 40m? Just swimming upstream I suppose.

  • I'm a bit confused here. How comes you guys use USB below 10MHz, thought it was LSB?

    Regards, Ross EX G0TXK

  • shut the heck up FREAKIN' CANADIANS stay in canada

  • 7296 KHz USB is used as it is compatible with many types of military radios that some hams have that are USB only ... as for listening first .. I was, it just sounds like I wasn't cuz I edited out some of the band-changes between 20 and 40 meters ..

  • On 20 I was hearing people east of me at 1900Z but west usually doesn't come in until later (following the sun). I didn't hear anything on 40 at all- just a lot of QRN. Hope we can try again and condx will cooperate. 73, Mark
