11 Mar 2010. With great sadness, I regret to inform that Patricia (Trish) Elaine Gibbons WA6UBE (SK) died in the arms of her spouse last night, of an apparent cardiac problem, while she was out at a coffeehouse get-together with friends.
Your ignorance entertains me greatly. You CB'ers need to run an illegal 5kW of power just to get the range we do at 50 watts. I look forward to seeing when you receive your $15k fine from the FCC.
A camera on a tripod shooting a woman talking to people that in essence say nothing has nearly 70,000 views, amazing. But at least we see and hear the ham unlike many other ham videos that show only the equipment.
man if only i could get a better radio, id be able to talk to you guys.....i just got my lisence back in march of 09, but i have a kenwood tr 7800 with a 2m mobile magmount....i was hoping that anyone would have an idea of what i could do to help my signal get out over a larger area, i really appreciate it!
this stuff is fascinating. I am just now getting into amateur radio. Doing all the learning and prep here for at least a month; will probably start with a TH-F6 HT to start with.
Technology today, is "Future Shock" for me. So many types of equipment available, to do so many tricks to communications. Think I'd just like to chat with someone now in then, just like the old days of nostalgia.
I have many years on the log. Started in my teens. Made my own equipment from junked TV sets from a local TV Repair shop. Sure met a lot of good people. Miss the CW contacts as well as the AM, DSB, FM, and antenna building. Now I'm an old dude but recently brought a transceiver, but just listen off and on these days. Miss the days of building projects. Technology is too far advanced for me, and my brain plasticity is demenishing, Lol.

The funny thing is I want to get into amateur radio and find it all fascinating but I really think that once I got it all set up... would I have anything to say? What do people talk about?
People talk about anything and everything. Hams are never at a loss for things to say. At first, a lot of new hams do more listening than talking. That way, they learn the proper etiquette and local customs. Gradually, hams get into the swing of things and talk up a storm. There are hams all over the world who are more than will to help you get started!!!
:IL-:IL-:IL-:IL,It's a pity you really can't say what you really mean---P.S. a lot of these folks go half cocked on useless witch hunts (When they're not being good)-Some of you are right,is she a he.......LOL.Don't drive on JASON...

Although this is a draggy video, you are showing some good video representation of utilizing ham radio in this day and age of the internet. I'm seeing more and more of our communication tech coming full circle... good stuff!
