@OUWATZAHLE08 I know how to make this food b/c I have eaten it all my life, my mother, grandmother, and all of my aunts taught me how to cook this wonderful food, we do NOT use any cook book :)
I had sum wonderful pickled turnips at a Mediterrean Restaurant by my job the other day. They were a decoration on an order of Baba Goooge. They were AWESOME! They were a bit sweet, not overly sweet, just mildly sweet enough to taste. Can u add a bit of sugar to the recipe?
Last time I made pickles I through in about a half-cup of sambal into a 1 gallon jar. I imagine one option for heat is just using harissa. You'd get your heat and garlic from that. Then again that is probably spicier than most people like pickles. I love pickled vegetables that are VERY spicy.
