I've just subscribed to you because of this video :D Your detailed explanation is really helpful! I need to start studying Japanese again properly before I forget it all; I got lazy with it :P
Please continue making videos like this because they're great!!
The meaning of "overwork" is 働き過ぎ、過労. It can also be used as a verb as in "The boss overworks his subordinates" (上司は部下をこき使う). The usual translation for 残業 is "overtime" or "working late" or "working after hours". Great lesson though. 残業しすぎないようにね 残業手当はつく? 笑
This might help you to sleep: Think of sleeping as work. Because if you sleep badly then it's your fault if you're late for work. Even though I'm sure that would never happen to you, but it does sometimes to me :D
Being overworked means being made to work too hard or long, or being stressed out and exhausted in general. Working overtime means working means working more hours than the normal 8(?) hours you were supposed to work. Native english speakers wouldn't normally say "I overworked today".
Very informative. Your series is already giving me insight of what to look forward to when I learn Japanese. A bit intimidating, but great to know nonetheless. :) Since I'm not in school right now, go back at the end of the month, so I think I'll practice what you show us. The speaking part will be interesting though.
It's 4:30am here in Los Angeles so I'm currently not sleeping, so I hope you slept for the both of us, ahaha.
You're doing a good job, and I hope you continue with this series. I think you're good at not making the learner feel overwhelmed by keeping a light attitude and interjecting some well timed humor. Makes it feel less mundane to learn that way, and by the comments it's obvious that you're helping people.
You are stunning announcer I want to hear more! I fall for that.
I think you should make video about how to write on PC. This is omit in education, and hardest to google up is all about know-how. I was trying to write today's 今日残業をしました。 pretty awesome ha? I succeed at 3rd try with “kyou zan gyou woshimashita.“
simple lesson, but thorough! please do more, your voice is pleasant. if you could talk more about particles, i would appreciate it. they give me the most trouble. differences in when to use が or を would be great.
I think that every nihongo student have problems with kanjis. Would be very cool if you could focus a bit on it, like a hint to memorize a specific kanji. Someone commented in your last vid that he finds easy to remember 左 because of the little "H" there. Now I never mix up 右 and 左 ! It's cool because doesn't matter what is your nihongo's level when it comes to learn kanji.
Wow! Yoko rocked that lesson. I love you, I love you, I LOVE YOU. LOL. Pretty please, Do this type of lesson all the time, whenever you can. I never knew that word (残業) before you taught it to me and now I know it! So you are a great teacher :)
watching you write all those kanjis and other characters breaks my brain! its amazing how easily you write those complex symbols. i love learning about the japanese language (even though i doubt i'll ever be able to write those lol). hope you make more videos like this! :)
I really like how deep you go into the details. The sheet looked kind of random in the end, but the point was transported really well. Please keep it up and produce more stuff in that manner!
my head >.< i got mushroom cloud of steam coming out lol
lol i jk i got most of it i just wanted to ask why do you need to put (w)o there? ive always just wondered what makes the difference because usually ive just picked things off from listening and got it correct about 90% of the time but id like to know the differences
I loved the vid. this way I really understood what the kanji meant, instead of just knowing the translation. I hope you'll make more vids like this, they're interesting :P
'Uuugghhh' - what is the English translation for that? Secondly, I wish Japanese women would talk in their 'regular voices' instead of the overly gentle way in which they often communicate when speaking in public. Yoko, I like your regular voice much better than your 'sweet' voice. Thirdly, please show us some of your doodling work (the drawings you do on paper when you are bored)
Hahaha you sounded just like the teacher I had when I took Japanese in high school, I had to learn through videos and audio tapes and all the girls sounded just like that. Thanks for teaching us <3
@ve8729 hahaha so this was a review vid to let you realize how much you know eh XD thanks for watching still!! and your kind words! i really appreciate it ^^
@vetarwyn you can't literally translate that expression in english. It has a very japanese feeling to it just like yoroshiku onegai shimasu. Maybe Yoko can explain better.
Yoko, thanks for this type of lesson. I love all the stuff that Victor and Ciaela (and the rest) do but this is exactly how I study my own Japanese learning. I love the detail and the etymology. For me, it helps me understand it - and understanding it makes me learn it deeper. Thanks again.
@wickedmuso awww thank you so much. yeah, understanding everything in what you're trying to grab and associating them with other things help you learn better, right? at least that was the case for me, so i'm trying lol. it's super cool that you're studying!! i will make sure that you will hear a bit of japanese every day through my vid XD ganbatte!!:D
@EmiChuPan hey! just saw your tweet, you really watched XD thank you so much!! awww you really wish?XD!!! *starts getting prepared to speak in the tone* lol

I suck at kanji :(
Sometimes I read Japanese sentences, and the kanji words that I don't know how to pronounce, i usually read it in CHINESE instead! hahahaha!
They almost have the same meaning, so i understand most of it :)

a good lesson--i understood what you meant yoko.
3 alphabets would be,like, cyrillac, romanji, and kanji...which would be cool to make a new language out of.
however, yeah, inochi, is just one kanji made up of three letters
