  • "don't laugh" what do you mean don't laugh, that was absolutely perfect!

  • I've just subscribed to you because of this video :D Your detailed explanation is really helpful! I need to start studying Japanese again properly before I forget it all; I got lazy with it :P

Please continue making videos like this because they're great!!

  • OMFG your voice is just like women in the dramas that "no tekyoude okorishimashita" or whatever she says OMMGGG

  • 英語うまいですね。。

    英語うまくなりたーい。。。

  • I was going to write "inochi" before you said it on the video! :P

  • Thanks for the lesson! it's really helpful!^^

  • I love the pen.. what's the brand? Hehe

  • My powerlevel of the Japanese language is too low T_T"

  • Is all announcers have the same voice? O.o I swear, everytime I hear a woman's voice announce is the same as the one you used.

  • @Taylenism Haha I know what you mean :)

  • The meaning of "overwork" is 働き過ぎ、過労. It can also be used as a verb as in "The boss overworks his subordinates" (上司は部下をこき使う). The usual translation for 残業 is "overtime" or "working late" or "working after hours". Great lesson though. 残業しすぎないようにね 残業手当はつく? 笑

  • Lmao! How can I learn with all this bear porn goin on!?

  • What those bears doin' behind you? O.o

  • @bizelivin making out.

  • @randomyoko 恋したっていいじゃない ( ^▽^)

  • lol you'e awesome.

  • @randomyoko

What about "konnichi"? Is it the same as "kyou"? Any difference?

  • Yoko you should watch a few YouTube videos of people teaching language to get better.

  • This might help you to sleep: Think of sleeping as work. Because if you sleep badly then it's your fault if you're late for work. Even though I'm sure that would never happen to you, but it does sometimes to me :D

  • Thank you, Yoko-sensei!!

  • japanese is so complicated... Ô_o

  • Reading these comments is like counting sheeps for you, isn't it?

  • よ子さん、ありがとうございました!本当にためになりました!教え方は大好きです!

  • いのち 命 A O P!!! :D :D = LIFE!

    Thanks for todays lesson!!

  • I like the way you teach ! I wanna be a Japanese teacher like you do~! Zangyo otsukaresama !

  • このレーションはとても役に立ちます。

    動画ありがとう。

  • Hi Yoko,

Would you like to make a video teaching some basic japanese that tourist can apply when they are at Japan? Thank you :)

  • Being overworked means being made to work too hard or long, or being stressed out and exhausted in general. Working overtime means working means working more hours than the normal 8(?) hours you were supposed to work. Native english speakers wouldn't normally say "I overworked today".

  • Very informative. Your series is already giving me insight of what to look forward to when I learn Japanese. A bit intimidating, but great to know nonetheless. :) Since I'm not in school right now, go back at the end of the month, so I think I'll practice what you show us. The speaking part will be interesting though.

It's 4:30am here in Los Angeles so I'm currently not sleeping, so I hope you slept for the both of us, ahaha.

  • Great lessons, would love to have a series..... ありがとうございます。。

  • I suck at kanji :(

Sometimes I read Japanese sentences, and the kanji words that I don't know how to pronounce, i usually read it in CHINESE instead! hahahaha!

They almost have the same meaning, so i understand most of it :)

  • Thanks! Wasn't sure what word to use for overwork.

  • wow your "announcing" voice was great! 0_o i didn't expect that ) you need to make a video using that voice, that would be fun

  • your voice is really cool!!! i wish i could speak in that way :) hehe

  • you are so much fun to watch <3

  • I'm lost LOL

  • a good lesson--i understood what you meant yoko.

3 alphabets would be,like, cyrillac, romanji, and kanji...which would be cool to make a new language out of.

however, yeah, inochi, is just one kanji made up of three letters

  • so...a "formal" announcement has to sound like a woman just took 5 blasts of helium? japan is so unusual...

  • 勉強になりました! 残業知らなかったです

  • The announcer voice is hot xD

  • You're doing a good job, and I hope you continue with this series. I think you're good at not making the learner feel overwhelmed by keeping a light attitude and interjecting some well timed humor. Makes it feel less mundane to learn that way, and by the comments it's obvious that you're helping people.

    Keep doing these...

  • You are stunning announcer I want to hear more! I fall for that.

I think you should make video about how to write on PC. This is omit in education, and hardest to google up is all about know-how. I was trying to write today's 今日残業をしました。 pretty awesome ha? I succeed at 3rd try with “kyou zan gyou woshimashita.“

  • Bad handwriting??? I seriously thought that was amazing how fast and beautiful you wrote that!

  • simple lesson, but thorough! please do more, your voice is pleasant. if you could talk more about particles, i would appreciate it. they give me the most trouble. differences in when to use が or を would be great.

  • Cool, learned a new word: 残業 :D

I think that every nihongo student have problems with kanjis. Would be very cool if you could focus a bit on it, like a hint to memorize a specific kanji. Someone commented in your last vid that he finds easy to remember 左 because of the little "H" there. Now I never mix up 右 and 左 ! It's cool because doesn't matter what is your nihongo's level when it comes to learn kanji.

Anyway, great vid. I need MOAR! ♥

  • >< no wonder zangyou sounded so familiar, i was supposed to have learned it last semester but forgot it ahhh *time to re-study*

  • Wow! Yoko rocked that lesson. I love you, I love you, I LOVE YOU. LOL. Pretty please, Do this type of lesson all the time, whenever you can. I never knew that word (残業) before you taught it to me and now I know it! So you are a great teacher :)

  • watching you write all those kanjis and other characters breaks my brain! its amazing how easily you write those complex symbols. i love learning about the japanese language (even though i doubt i'll ever be able to write those lol). hope you make more videos like this! :)

  • Somewhere in her conversation to herself is a Japanese lesson.

  • AOP I remembered from yesterday and wrote it today.今日!wwww

  • You're really good at explaining and teaching, definitely one of the better ones I've come across! Great Job & Thank you! =D

  • thank you thank you thank you

  • I love your announcing voice! Very professional!

  • "bad handwriting" you don't want to see my Japanese writing =D

  • I really like how deep you go into the details. The sheet looked kind of random in the end, but the point was transported really well. Please keep it up and produce more stuff in that manner!

  • I liked this!

Please make more little phrase/vocab lessons!

  • Awesome lesson, Sensei!

  • I quit trying right now... No fu***ng way i would EVER understand that... :(

  • 私はアナウンサーを必要とする

    発表アナウンサーを発表する

  • I love your videos!! I also speak japanese! And once u taught me how to write Inochi, I never more forgot it!!

  • @-@ i just graduated from stupid XD

i lost you in the first explication when

you start mixing things with you-tube

views (make them simple start with simple words)

then take a huge sentence or some of us will get confuse.

i want to learn for sure love to learn Japanese but i fell like is

going to fast for the first time.i like the video thank you.

for was to much kanji XD for the day hahahahah.

  • I really love the way you teach. It's so easy to understand. ^^

  • good vid very interesting question what exactly do you do in your job? yay for sleepytime :) eagerly awaiting next vid

  • what means kuroi namida??

    i ike these mini series

  • @NahOlObBie

    kuroi = black

    namida = tears

    so black tear(s) =]

  • that fluffy tired happy feeling is called kef its my favorite word

  • i love this video!

  • my head >.< i got mushroom cloud of steam coming out lol

lol i jk i got most of it i just wanted to ask why do you need to put (w)o there? ive always just wondered what makes the difference because usually ive just picked things off from listening and got it correct about 90% of the time but id like to know the differences

  • Your announcer voice is amazing. LOL

  • I loved the vid. this way I really understood what the kanji meant, instead of just knowing the translation. I hope you'll make more vids like this, they're interesting :P

    PS. I Laughed :$

  • Wow you sounded exactly like the announcer voices I heard in Japan!! haha

I think you probably did an excellent job teaching this but I am not at that level yet unfortunately.

Take care Yoko! Don't over work!! ><

  • 'Uuugghhh' - what is the English translation for that? Secondly, I wish Japanese women would talk in their 'regular voices' instead of the overly gentle way in which they often communicate when speaking in public. Yoko, I like your regular voice much better than your 'sweet' voice. Thirdly, please show us some of your doodling work (the drawings you do on paper when you are bored)

  • You're announcer voice is scary good lol. Thanks for the lesson ^^b

  • Hahaha you sounded just like the teacher I had when I took Japanese in high school, I had to learn through videos and audio tapes and all the girls sounded just like that. Thanks for teaching us <3

  • Very informative video, Yoko. Thank you for uploading. You explained everything nicely. I knew most of that already, but it was explained well.

  • @ve8729 hahaha so this was a review vid to let you realize how much you know eh XD thanks for watching still!! and your kind words! i really appreciate it ^^

  • Otsukare sama.. oyasumi

  • @dizy82 i actually just woke up lol but thank you!!!

  • @dizy82 先生におつかれさまいわないとおもいます。今日授業で勉強しました。。。笑。。。

  • @vetarwyn you can't literally translate that expression in english. It has a very japanese feeling to it just like yoroshiku onegai shimasu. Maybe Yoko can explain better.

  • Yoko, thanks for this type of lesson. I love all the stuff that Victor and Ciaela (and the rest) do but this is exactly how I study my own Japanese learning. I love the detail and the etymology. For me, it helps me understand it - and understanding it makes me learn it deeper. Thanks again.

  • @wickedmuso awww thank you so much. yeah, understanding everything in what you're trying to grab and associating them with other things help you learn better, right? at least that was the case for me, so i'm trying lol. it's super cool that you're studying!! i will make sure that you will hear a bit of japanese every day through my vid XD ganbatte!!:D

  • @wickedmuso +1, as Google would say.

  • I wish i had your announcer voice!! lol... Thank you so much for the lesson<3

  • @EmiChuPan hey! just saw your tweet, you really watched XD thank you so much!! awww you really wish?XD!!! *starts getting prepared to speak in the tone* lol

  • @randomyoko Yay!! I feel special :D

  • I'm laughing lol

  • @Nyanko NOOOOOOO LOL!!!!
