@100spurs Because there was no year zero Millenniums also start on the 01's so the Millennium also started in 2001. Unless you can find the 99 year century somewhere in there. You wont be able to though because there is no such thing as a 99 year century. No matter how you slice it the 21st century and the 3rd millennium (the millennium we are in right now, 2001 through 3000) began in 2001.

@BxBaseball Well, as a fan of the SOx, the only team to have 2 championships in the 21st century (2001 was the first year of the 21st, not 2000. There was no year zero) I always root for yankees failure! That being said, there is nothing to dislike about Jeter as an individual player and I respect the hell out of what he's done on the field as a player. I "hate" the Yankees but there are always some individual players of whom I'll consider myself a fan. I'm a baseball fan first sox fan 2nd.

I hate saying that but, even if it's not the sox representing the AL in the world series, the AL team is going to lose to the Phillies. THe Phillies have what will prove to be the greatest post season pitching rotation in the history of the game.

@CEnforce The only way the Sox make it to the playoffs is with another wild card aka free pass win. But, its still wishful thinking on your part to think that they will make it as far as the WS. Lets face it, the minute Yook or Gonzo go down for even a week or so, that's when the Sox will start to slip away from the race. Side note: what the hell was Ortiz doing in the all star game just a few days after charging the mound? Seriously, Selig is such a money hungry creep to allow that.

@BxBaseball The Sox are still playing VERY strong despite beat up pitching. Yanks are kind of on there third or fourth slide of the year. The fact that the Rays are playing better and better as the season goes on and are refusing to go away and the tight race thats only within a couple of the WC slot in the central means that the sox and yankees really need to keep their stuff together in order to make it at all. The last thing MAjor League Baseball wants is a post-season with neither team.
