I have listened Darren sing live many times and this is not how he usually sounds, is just he is not used to dance and sing at the same time. That is not a easy thing to do, takes a lot of time to learn, but I don't think they autotune him for the songs he sings at glee at all.

As if we needed more evidence, I think this definitively proves that autotune is largely responsible for Darren Criss' voice on the show. Don't get me wrong, he's a very talented songwriter, but he's an average singer.

@PrepeiNaSasPw Actually, an average voice. He's very educated and experianced in singing. He knows how to work his voice in a professional manner, unlike most celebrity singers. It's just a weak voice though. And also, dancing and singing is not nearly as easy as you'd think. If he was standing still it probably would've sounded 10x better.

Normally you just get lovestruck girls (and some boys) drooling over Darren Criss saying that he is the best thing singer and actor and dancer and person ever. While I think he has an appeal, we have to be objective when talking about things like singing and acting skill.

But we very much respect his talent, and will look for a reasonable argument for people who say he is terrible. Although he may not be amazing, he has done a good amount of Broadway, so he knows his way around when it comes to dancing, singing, and acting, but really what makes him great is his charisma. The x factor. That's what makes him such a sensation. He rules a stage.

I'm pretty sure Darren and the beat-boxer guy are the only ones who are up live in this thing.

I'm pretty sure the rest is on a backing track since it's actually REALLY hard to be able to get sound and balance and timing any where near as good as the backing vocals for this.

Also live performances would never backseat a perfect backing like thatif it was done live. Nah. Pretty sure it's the original mix backing track, and the other guys are just there to stand and look pretty.
