  • why would you let somebody else mix your music without being there? you'll take away the personal relationship you should have with it. mastering i'd be ok with if i trust them but i could never let somebody near my music to mix it.

  • The Sonnox limiter ..... "Just" another limiter! lol !!!!!!!!!! Good to see you've got a sense of humour! Now go and "buy" all these!

  • it's like he's using plugins just because he has um

  • This video has "Plugin Salesman" written all over it.

  • @Domers81

It has warez user written all over it :D

  • is it possible to play notes on pc keyboard like in FL ?btw how do i open/load instruments in this bitch, ive been looking for some tutorials 4 ze beginners but everybody r just mixing and recording live

  • heres a tip for you, jsut because the track is clipping doesnt mean it is audible distorting. use your ears.

  • @griploc1981 Clipping means your too hot, period. If you want to make it louder, use another means besides pushing levels. Like limiter with make up. Clipping is unacceptable.

  • @jaydjosey

untrue. im a certified recording engineer and have 10 plus years of experience and i have learned from some of the best engineers in canada. i think i know what i am talking about.

  • does that multi compressor come with cubase or do you have to buy it serperate?

  • @ganjaking187 THis multi band compressor do no come with Cubase, but cubase does have it's own multiband compressor tha it comes with

  • @jmac2050 cool thanks ill be getting this software soon thanks for the info. peace

  • Why did you change the Dither to type-2 and the Shaping to Ultra?

  • @frederickoliver Back when I read the Waves manual, I gather that these where the best settings, but I really don't hear the different in any of Dither settings, just know you have to Dither.

  • @jmac2050 Well, you don't really HAVE to dither, but is most certainly very useful for bouncing down to 16 bit. As this bit rate reduction results in the loss of the least significant bit. Apart from dither solving a whole lot of distortion issues caused by bit truncation errors, it also raises the overall level of the signal, causing parts of signal lost in the noise floor to be audible.

  • lol......riiight

  • hey can i send you a cubase 5 file over email or something and then can you mix and master it for me then send it back because i have no idea how to master or mix anything and i dont have any plugins that you have haha

  • @christophercarlson1 but youd have to send back the full exported mp3 cuz i dont have the plgins you have

  • @christophercarlson1 yeah, depending on the file size of your project you might have to send it to me with "Drop Box" or you try sending a mp3 or preferable wave file win rared.

  • @jmac2050 can you just message me your email and ill send it to you over email

  • @jmac2050

I have to say mate that was very good of you to agree to master for some random guy on here. Mastering is a very expensive trade if you got it done professionally.

    Good on you.

  • All scene released plugins including the DAW...LMAO

  • LET ME GET DAT INSTRUMENTAL

  • using a lot of maximizers, limiters and all those mastering vst's, not good! can harm the sound! especially when they are NOT from the same company..Keep it simple

    Nice track

  • Comment removed

  • where can i get more fx or plugin for cubase le !

  • can u give me the names of those plugins?

  • @BeatOvenProductions1 The BBE Sonic Maximizer, time-shifts the higher frequencies ahead of the lower frequencies to bring more sparkle and presence to instruments. The PSP Vintage Warmer, is a high-quality digital simulation of an analog-style compressor/limiter; capable of generation saturation effects typical of analog tape recorders. The Studio Channel is tube style virtual equalizer/compressor. L3-LL Multimaximizer is Low Latency 5-band auto-summing peak limiter.

  • Se escucha pura mierda!!!!!

  • whats beter cubase or wavelab for mastering

  • @leparditas I Can't say which is better for mastering in general, because of these two programs are design for two different purposes. If you need to produce from scratch an individual song or beat, than Cubase has the best set up for that. If you need to arrange an album (a collection or songs or beats), and than burn to CD, than Wavelab would be best for that. Both programs can process sound equally for mastering.

  • @jmac2050 what's up man, I was wondering if you know anything about Auto-tuning in Cubase 5, I have a few questions. Thanks.

  • @leparditas Wavelab definately. We use Wavelab in our mastering studio with plugins, and the capability for spectrum analysis and the large variations of output ways make this programm a one of a kind.

  • BBE is nasty. Harsh and painful.

  • @m00nshine2004 I like to use T-racks or Sonnox Oxford for compression and mastering

  • When you use other plugins then the software one's you cant say Mastering in that software (Cubase as it is now) ..

  • I neam when I walk into effect Nomod Facttroy What should I do?

  • @DjRevTech Keep in mind that A LOT of VST plugins are free, as opposed to RTAS-plugins.

  • @DjRevTech

I was just thinking, looks like he has all the plugins available on the market!

  • Have any suggestions on how to mix the vocal into the mix so it sounds like it belong in there and not above or below it :)

  • @Freakingwork yeah, slightly eq down the mid range of the instrument so the vocals will fit that hole you made

  • @Freakingwork Yeah EQ works but another thing that works wonders is compression, because it gives things their own space by reducing the space that they take up, also reverb works to push the vocal back a bit, and if you send all instruments to the same reverb it can give the impression of them occupying the same space. Delay can also work to blend the vocal if it is not too long and not the return is not too prominant

  • @crispychrisuk ty for a very helpful comment :) , i've got all the things going with compressor, reverb and delay etc., I just think i have to work the EQ really nice, to get the whole thing in place :) thx again. cheers!

  • can you name plugins which you use?

  • U forgot a very important thing . U should alwaysw clean up the very low ends berfore runnig the whole mix through something like the L3. I usually do this with the q10

  • boring.....

  • i need this beat....can i get it?

  • @PedgeFox yeah

  • the song u was trying 2 master is 2 difuse... in PAZ Analyzer u can see it veru clearly. Try 2 obtain a much centered track and after that u can do the Stereo Enhancing after. I will make a track like urs and record it and of course post it... anywway keep up the great work! Respect!

  • YO MANE CAN I GET THIS BEAT?

  • @FlamesquadENT yeah, u want it as an e mail?

  • @jmac2050

Do NEVER give beats for free.

  • YO MANE CAN I GET THIS BEAT BRO?

  • where I can find plugins to Cubase 5???

  • distorted...

  • can i get the beat? please? jmac2050

  • @garrettloyd yeah

  • where do u get these plugins , or are they already on cubase 5?

and what kinda plugins do u use in fruity loops

  • @specialziedfuse You can download these plug-ins from the manufacture or get them from a music store like Guitar Center. These particular plug ins don t come with Cubase. In FL, I like using their Maximus plug-in. I might make a video, just using Cubase's plug-ins cause they are just as good.

  • can u explain wat maximus even does, i use the limiter in parametric eq. @jmac2050

  • and ***@specialziedfuse

  • @specialziedfuse it s a multi-band compressor, meaning it can compress individual frequencies independently from one and the other, it can be used for controlling uneven volume level, it can be use to make drums more punchy by slowing downing the attack a little, or and be used for mastering along with a parametric eq and a limiter.

  • why not do it in the FL master channel :)

if you had done some mixing or arrange i could understand and do it myself

but just for using (external) vst effects no need for the cubase at all..

  • So can you use vst plugins and fl drums kicks etc through cubase?

  • @stevienick3 Yes you can, FL will show up in Cubase as a VST Instrument or you can run FL through Cubase using the rewire feature in Cubase.

  • hey do u have any tips for mastering the snare ?? any compressors or limiters i should buy?

  • @CHRCAR5 Try Cubase's plug in " Da Tube" for a full or dirtier sound, any cubase compressor (fast attack, fast release) for a tighter sound, and or their maximizer for a louder sounding snare.

  • @xXKRoweXx always best to record at the highest bit u can 24 bit or 32 bit float, and use dither during the mastering process to change bit resolution

  • u dont have to export to a stereo track to master in cubase, the glory of it is that u can introduce the right vst effects in the signal chain on the master bus and get the desired effects, but as a rule its nice to export to a stereo track and listen to how the instruments sit "in the mix" before mastering.

  • hey man. im having trouble with cubases mastering setup. how do i imnport an entire song as a whole into the mastering setup, but have it only be one track, so i can master the entire song? thank you man i rly need this

  • @xXKRoweXx First, Go to File / Export / Audio Mix down, type File Name, choose Path or Destination, like Desk Top or My Documents, Choose File Format: Wave File (44.100 kHz, 16 or 24 Bit), and hit Export and close project. Then, start new project, choose mastering setup and go to File / Import, browse for file you just export earlier.

  • great!!! the cube base have the plug or is external? thanks

  • @VWFULL external

  • at zakito853 nomadfactory com

  • So should I do an "Audio Mixdown" (I made my beat in Cubase 5) and then import that into a new project to master it?

    Thanks.

  • @fcmilsweeper9 I would Channel Batch Export the Beat, a new feature in Cubase 5, into a new project, before you had to export each track one by one to keep your tracks separated for farther processing. And, than mix and arrange the beat to taste. And, than export it the regular way, an audio mix-down, into a new project to do some mastering to it. Keep your projects to this one beat in the same folder so you can go back and make changes if need be.

  • @jmac2050

I dont really understand what you mean by Channel Batch Export, but ill look for it. I usually have all my dynamics, most of the eq'ing and such done in the mixer and has each track's eq option before I export to master. Thanks for the tips.

  • @fcmilsweeper9 Active the Channel Batch Export option if you want to mix down several channels at once. It 's check box is located at the top left corner of the Export Audio Mix down dialog window. This feature is useful if you want to transfer your track to another DAW or just want to process and or arrange your tracks separately.

  • After this track I learned a lot I suggest you guys get one track professionally mastered to understand what you final mix will become

  • I rather just pay 25 for mastering online then do this part ... I compose my music and write on the keys . End of story beyond that its in the hands of the pros - I should upload my first track I ever made and let you guys here a pro master on a basic mix 70 Dollars from a La studio) I told the mastering guy I just made this track so I can get an example of what mastering can do . So I can correct my mistakes in the mixdown .

  • doesn't sound any different did you add audio to the video or capture it when recording ?

  • whats the name of the VST that you mastered on?

  • @kickflipindy78 The BBE Sonic Maximizer, time-shifts the higher frequencies ahead of the lower frequencies to bring more sparkle and presence to instruments. The PSP Vintage Warmer, is a high-quality digital simulation of an analog-style compressor/limiter; capable of generation saturation effects typical of analog tape recorders. The Studio Channel is tube style virtual equalizer/compressor. L3-LL Multimaximizer is Low Latency 5-band auto-summing peak limiter.

  • @jmac2050 thanks ,

but lets say i record a song on cubase ( eg 8 track recording) how can i get it onto 1 track to be mastered as a whole thing? ( on cubase 5)

  • @kickflipindy78 The easy way is to go to File / Export / Audio Mixdown and click in the check box labeled Audion Track and hit Export button.

  • @jmac2050 in cubase 5 there seems to be no audion track button?

  • @kickflipindy78 If you are talking about auditioning the track when you export, than in the Export Dialog check the Realtime Export box to hear the tracks as it mixes down. If you want to audition a clip use the play tool, it looks like a little speaker. If you want to use the L button on your mixer, you have to go to Devices / VST Connections / Studio tab and enable Control Room first.

  • Does the BBE Sonic Maximizer come with Cubase ?

  • you could use FL maximum and master it there :p

  • @sonicthehedgehogxp I did, that's why it was loud when i started

  • hey borther can you tell me about plug in that you used

  • @sxayaxang The BBE Sonic Maximizer, time-shifts the higher frequencies ahead of the lower frequencies to bring more sparkle and presence to instruments. The PSP Vintage Warmer, is a high-quality digital simulation of an analog-style compressor/limiter; capable of generation saturation effects typical of analog tape recorders. The Studio Channel is tube style virtual equalizer/compressor. L3-LL Multimaximizer is Low Latency 5-band auto-summing peak limiter.

  • @jmac2050 Do all of these come with Cubase?!?!?!

  • @Hatecradle no

  • lol good vid! but i dunno why your showing this while alot of people dont actually have those plugins..... could you maybe upload them so we could download them?

  • how do you get vsts into cubase ?

  • @BashfulTheDramaKid .Once you install a Vst, Cubase should find it with it's plugin manger, go to Devices: VST Instruments, if not. you need to browse to where the dll. file is installed. Then you can open a Vst by hitting F11 or by opening an instrument track.

  • @BashfulTheDramaKid drop the .dll into the vst folder within the cubase folder.

  • i do it like the same! nice vid

  • @sephardimm UAD's percision limiter is pretty good

  • @sephardimm Anyway the purpose of this vid is show that software by itself can produce a loud master. Even tho I started this vid hot levels, if U, look at the notes, this is lite remastering.

  • @sephardimm Sorry, but I went to to your channel to hear how great a UAD card is suppose to be, and guess what; there was nothing there. So, do yourself a favor and next time you want to be a critic put your own work up for examination. Yes, it's a little distorted but, my audio wave copy doesn't sound like that, so something wrong with Youtube upload or the video edit program. Don't have time to keep re-render video so I ran it the way it is.

  • how do yall use the plugins to make the music better im still new to cubase

  • nice work love the stuff.

  • Mutha Fuckas argue all day about whats they use is better and aint made a fuckin dime, who gives a fuck what you like and what timbaland uses, them muther fuckas are rich and very successfull and most likely your broke, the MEKO must be good if cats are dropin hits and people are buyin it I guess it dont matter what you youtube producers think

  • @mykawest The Meko or Niko it nothing but a tool or convenience. It's basically a touch screen labtop, a keyboard, a sound module, and a soundcard all in one device. You could buy all these components separately for about the same money, but the only different is, if you needed to travel with you main studio gear, you would have to brake all your stuff down and set it back up again. One drawback from the Meko is it's heavy, so your better off with a midi controller and labtop for traveling.

  • Nomads sound really bad, that's true.

but today with abbey road and t Racks stuff, or SPL, somethings can happened in a mix.

  • @module61

Smells like love is in the AiR .xD

  • or you can listen to some of those Asr 10 Timbaland beats, those things are unbeatable 15years later thats crazy

    p.s just my opinion

  • software still sounds bad ima stick with the modules

  • @widgetloc To each, His own

  • @widgetloc That depend on the software, sample based programs like Kontakt is really no different than if you where sit there and record all those instruments live yourself. And, old school sound modules do some type of compressing converting to fit large sound banks in them. Yeah, some software sound cheesy and some don't.

  • I just have been looking for a reason to ditch my MPC 2000 classic and Roland modules but cant because sound is so thick and realistic, I got a chance to play with the Meko keyboard in my studio and to my ears and every one else around it sounds bad the dude just spent 5000 on it, I hear songs that were done on software like Baby by me 50 Cent and Gangsta Luv by Snoop dog then i listen TO AN MPC songs like i wanna rock SNOOP DOGG or OK YOUR RIGHT 50CENT and software loses you should try this

  • It's not the software. It's distorted and boomy somewhere in the mix, or at some stage. Not very radio ready to put it mildly.

  • That how the kids like it from here, they like to ride in their car and feel the bass in their chest; i guess you have to be under 30 and not a music connoisseur to get. But, for a radio mix, I would mix it differently, with the vocals attached. I just through this video together real fast to show that you can get a big sound with just software.

  • Oh, well whatever!

I've seen this 20-ish guy a couple of times filling gas and he has his car doors open and first time I was in a hall like 200m away inside a building. I thought WTF ... is is an earthquake? So I stepped outside and it's the subwoofer in his car hahaha. So now whne I hear the erthquake I know who's filling up the car! : )

A former collegue also 20-ish showed me his car stereo. I noticed this strange bass tone resonance that was present in all the songs. He went "Yeah! : ) "

  • Can you make a video on mastering in CUBASE5 and only using CUBASE5 plug-ins?

  • @GoodKarmaZodiacs Sure, Cubase 5 come with some nice plug-ins, really don't need anything else.

  • beat tight just wondering you dont like making beats in cubase fam just wondering

  • @fatsack2007 I favor making beats in Cubase, but I jump to other programs too, to get insight on how they do things. My video "Cubase 5 Mastering in Cubase II" was done all in Cubase. Check out "Reason 4 Beats A Few Tracks I Made In Reason" and post comment please.

  • @jmac2050

just loved your work...I got a question...If u compare between Cubase 5 and Pro tools 8 in terms of mixing, mastering, workflow and sound quality, which DAW do you think is better?

  • @ksk235 In terms of mixing, mastering and sound quality, they are both the same. But in terms or workflow and features, I favor Cubase; I can get what I need out of Cubase with less effort, it's just setup better to me, and Cubase 5 or Nuendo 4 comes with way more features.

  • thnx a lot dude...it helped..:)

  • Type jmac2050 in youtube's search window to view all videos.

  • Thanks for the Cubase 5 demo. But don't you have too much on your chain?

What was the purpose of the antares tube distortion.

Can you also if possible explain how to use the waves multiband compressor. I've had problems using that.

    Thanks

  • @mickeyncube It depends on what u r trying to do, it's better to use 3 compressors in a chain, to reduce a signal by 3 db each, than use one comp to reduce it by 9 db. PauseVideo@1:13,use a little for clean,Tubes create harmonics of the fundamental tones which add more sonic info in the sound field, basically, make the track more louder and glued together. Multi Comp, the Range control is like the Ratio nob on single comp. Opto is for vintage, Electro is more precise, might do video on this.

  • wow u use almost the same plugins I use.. that db maximizer is good.. I love cubase 5

  • Most of the plugins you, are the same ones i use. good job on how you use them.

  • Not meant to be a tutorial, but a demonstration in Cubase: email me if you want a precise tutorial about something specific.

  • @jmac2050 hey man im about to get cubase v5, is it any good for mastering, does it have any good mastering tools that you can use for proffessional purposes

  • voodoochild85858, the stock tools you would use for mixing in Cubase 5 are the same tools you would use for mastering in Cubase 5, which can give you professional results. I like Cubase for mastering a song and a program called Samplitude for mastering an album.

  • This is not a very good tutorial.

  • Yeah thanks for answering my email and giving real good tips. sorry if i posted this twice not sure my comment didnt pop up but yeah also thanks for the tips on speakers and sound systems. i thought i would comment and rate peace

  • All you need really is a multi-band limiter, a compressor, and maybe an eq when you mastering something like this
