Was your leg shorten before the THR, an if so were they able to fix that?? I am 31 I have osteoarthritis and a twisted femur bone on my left side. My orthopedic chiropractor measured me he said I was 21 centimeters shorter from all this, I want to know if the will be able to fix the length? An will I always have a limp after the surgery. I guess I'm just freaked out about it all. I have had this for almost 4 years now and it has just been getting worse ever since
Hello Bill, I was quite impressed with your rapid recovery from THR. I am also 69 and had mine replaced in early June 2011. I needed longer to get to where you are, with 1 week on the walker and 4 weeks using the cane. I guess we all recover at different rates but I am quite happy where I am. Yes, you were an unusual case and I hope others who require longer recovery times do not get disappointed that they couldn't go without a walker or cane in 9 days. Best to you and your wife.
I am sure happy if our little video and comments helped ease your anxiety! I was dreading surgery and my only regret was putting it off for so long. It's not half as bad as I thought. Folks at our church were amazed that I was walking without aid within days of my surgery. 6 friends or ours have had total replacements recently and are ALL are doing great! Our daughter (mid 40's) had one and was doing cartwheels months later! TRue! So...don't worry, be happy ...Go for it!

I could not drive for 10 weeks after my hip replacement. I drive a small car and would have exceeded the initial limitations that my doc placed on me.
Thanks, Bill. I learned last month at age 63 I'll be needing hip replacement surgery in about a year or 2. Not looking forward to it. Daily Meloxicam keeps me walking so far, but will have to face reality in time. Thanks for the great insight!
Steve, first off I enjoy your u-tube videos. Didn't you post one on Leon Berry? As for the hip. I got a shot that lasted about 2 yrs. I felt great till it wore off. Couldha had another one but I opted for surgery, it was really not that bad. I was walking about a mile after 3-4 weeks and now can easily walk 2-3-4 miles a day.
Hospital stay was 3 days and went by very fast! Have a great day and glad the video helped ....I'll give you my docs name, lots of credit goes to him. Bill
Wow-I found this encouraging! I am 34 years old and have a bad right hip due to legg perthes (as a child). I am getting my hip replacement on April 12th. Thanks for sharing! I also plan on sharing my recovery. I hope I heal as quickly! I have many praying for me:)! Looking to God for a quick recovery, too! :)
