Thanks for the pictures. I was flying hueys out of Tay Ninh in 1969 with the Crusaders. I remember the top of The Black Virgin Mountain very well. I had several exiting takeoffs and landings from there. I also remember some of the lettering on the rocks on the top.
There's a shot of you at 2:51 in this video. Looks like you might have been facing the Medics Bunker. I recognize the view in the background, having been stationed in the VHF hootch right next to yours. The large rock on the right was the last stop for Charlie when he attacked us in July 1969. A SSG spotted them, fired into the group, and their satchel charges went off. Not a trace of them left.
My Dad served in Vietnam during 1968-1969, he too was a medic- 'Doc' Dewberry (Ross). I made a video from some of his pictures, after watching your video, some of the pictures appear to be of the same area. I was wondering if you knew my Dad, if so, would you be willing to share some of your memories of him & some information on the pictures in my video if you recognize any.
Regarding the photo of your Dad looking at an anti-personnel mine in the road. This photo is a reflection of his sense of humor. No medic would be poking around at an anti-personnel mine, and live. In my opinion, this photo was staged as a practical joke! If this were a real live explosive device, combat engineers trained in demolition would have been called to detonate it. This photo brought a little humor to relieve the daily stress of living in a war zone.
I was in dau tieng about 10 months with 4th and 25th Divs lived in a thatched roof building, not far from the snack bar we built. there in 1967 time in country gave me that great living area only a sp\4

Hi John, As I recall, the photo (at 2:51) was taken on the chopper pad. The next photo is of the mess hall, the medic's bunker is on the left.
Welcome Home!
