@jdme2015 Both of my parents are black and those products work great on my hair. I really don't think ethnicity matters as much as curl pattern and texture. I don't know if it makes a difference but I've never had a relaxer on my hair. I've just been getting it pressed since I was 12.

@elleraquel Thanks for responding! I LOVE that Bamboo styling lotion! It's awesome! I used it over mixed silk (generic mixed chicks) and it worked out great. I noticed that my hair is like yours in the picture of you laying out. But I'd like it to be like yours in this video. I can only wish! Thanks again!

@clfrank2002 No prob! Yes, in the video I applied Ouidad styling gel on top of the lotion. Without it my hair is less shiny and more prone to frizz throughout the day (as you see in the pic). So we're in the same boat! Just add gel ;)

@omgcheese26 I'm sure mine isn't exactly "better" :) I haven't diffused my hair before but I'm pretty curious about it. Heat styling isn't optimal for maintaining naturally healthy and shiny hair (which I have become obsessed with) but I'm sure a diffuser could be a convenient during cold climates. It's warming up now but I might look into it and if I do I will post a review lol

Now mind you we have the same hair but I think yours is a little thicker than mines. So I thought i will put my mixed chicks on first. I let it dry and take the crunch out and then I sprayed it a little with water and applied the alterna on and then did the rake and shake method to my hair. Now when I tell you my curls are the bomb man my curls are bangin. i am no longer spending my time on length just my curls and hope length comes with it.

Just keep an eye on shipping rates because from certain sellers it will just come out to the same money you're paying full price anyway.

Ok so I just had to come back in here and tell you this. When you first made this video I was like oh I am not spending that money on the alterna and I know I can find something cheaper to do the same thing lol. so I went out and got john frieda dream curls. and I tried it in the same manner as you do on application vid but it didn't work like on your hair. so then I broke down to try alterna and mine you I am using them with my staple mixed chicks.

@CheviLovebug I have a vid for the styling product application and as far as shampooing goes I guess it's pretty straightforward: just shampoo at the roots, conditioner on the ends after and let that sit for at least 5 min before I comb then rinse it out.

@kenithiaisme Thank you so much! In this video I had long layers (the shortest one was boob-length and the longest were butt length). I've recently gotten a 6-inch cut so now the shortest layer is shoulder length and the longest is mid-back. No matter what length, I find that layers work best for my hair. :)

@missvampirediaries10 It varies. I am willing to spend up to $35 for a phenomenal product but am always happy to spend less. My styling products normally run about $20 per bottle while the Burt's Bees shampoo and conditioner I've been using run $7 per bottle.

Catwalk Curls Rock is my staple styling product right now but I'm looking for a back-up to alternate it with. The alterna product looks amazing! How long does the curl definition last?

@talioness13 Thank you! I am going to MAKE time this week to get you, @crobins142289 and everyone else who is interested that video lol. The Alterna IS awesome. I apply it daily just because I rinse my hair daily so in my experience the definition lasts a day or two without any re-application. For longer wear, I'd suggest applying an oil over it to reactivate it.

@crobins142289 I know the feeling lol. I will definitely post a video on that because it makes a huge difference in how my curls look. For now I'd like to at least leave you with a synopsis: I part my hair down the middle then in 3 parts. Then, I use about 4 pumps of Alterna on each section. Finally, I apply with the Ouidad gel and apply it to unsectioned hair.
