i was at a conference with jurgen 3 years ago, he said that everyone thinks that there was a head wind from seeing the video but he actually had a tail wind, thats why he threw it soo high. he only did the reverse for this one season and it was soo inconsistant that he stop using it after the 86 season.

his 10 best throws are all 69.xxmetres. he threw a 70.xx once. Then he threw this? 4 metres over his best. and never threw over 70m again. did they test for drugs back then? not trying to offend, its just strange to throw 4 metres over his best like this. the top 10 throws of all the current best throwers are within 1 or 2 metres of each other.

The flight is because of the headwind and the amount of spin on the discus. If you have enough rotation on the discus, it will dip over no matter how you throw it. It's a physics thing.

They didn't have drug test in those times, now some people from East Germany used to have a tendency for steroids for some reason, if you check out the WR list's of discus you'll see how both of the wr are from East Germany (Men and Women) women WR is 76.80 Honestly I have no idea how she got it that far besides using steroids. I mean no offence to people from East Germany.

this is an amazing throw it"s definitely gonna be broken someday though. isn't it interesting that when he finally switched at the end instead of using the german style of throwing he breaks the record by two meters? i think that shows that switching gets more of your whole body into it and more force...just a thought

1st, i thought i was coming along going from 55 ft to, i thought, 65 ft in days and then i found i measured wrong and it was all along only 45-50 ft ; all this wasn't so hot ... but i have 30 days left before the olympic trials in eugene oregon so watch out ...; in more seriousness, i did think as a goal for older doode i could double to ? 100-120 ft which would be pretty good; and if i could mirror the faster spins shown as on this video on you tube, i could get out further to perhaps 150 ft

watch out jurgen i threw 1st time out 60 ft and at 64 im 1/4 the strength of when i was 17 or so and that 60 ft was with no spin ... so when i ramp up to spin that adds ? 3x 60 = 180 and lift to get my strength back 4x? 4x 60 = 240 + spin 3x 240 = 720 FT !! or 219 meters !! willy discus sr

There is a high school kid who is in 10th grade who throws 234 feet, He probably will be one of the few to beat this. But who knows. Records have been beaten, set, and rebeaten. Better techniques are being invented all the time, and better throws always are occuring.
