may i know what occasion was that? is there any DVD for that?
and i remember there was an occasion that he played Mendelssohn's scherzo from Midsummer Night's dream, but i can no longer find that clip in youtube. Can anyone help (tell) when that was? Thanks!
He has really nice hands, it's actually pleasant to watch him, elegant and refreshing. I saw him yesterday, what incredible luck. He is my new favorite pianist.
@Robertluy14 Constructive criticism for who? For Lugansky?? :D i think he doesn't need our "experience" to improve his plaing.... Will be "constructive" for us to try to understand his musical intentions and learn from him :) "too fast, too slow......".... where's the importance of this thing? it's only an amatorial observation
Of course I have not met him --except through his playing, which I've said is superior. I'm not passing "judgment" on him -- merely expressing a feeling.
I should make it clearer that my impression is not based solely on this very lovely performance. If I could play so well before an audience, I'm would probably become enamored of myself. Who wouldn't, unless they were Myra Hess, who had true humility.
There's a certain aura of arrogance and smugness about this good-looking pianist, however, that reminds me of why I cannot bring myself to worship blindly at the feet of Martha Argerich as so many do.
Playing can be superb, as Lugansky's certainly is, but those who project a little humility and even a trace of vulnerability as well tend to be more appealing.
It may help to know that I'm a devoted fan of Guiomar Novaes and Myra Hess.
@Pischnaholic I have met him twice, and I am a close friend of his, he is not arrogant. He is one of the most respectful and charismatic people I know.
i enjoy bunin's better. more magic

I love this piece, and Mr. Lugansky is now my favorite pianist... (And that Rachmaninoff Moment Musical is now my favorite piano piece... :-D)
I would love to meet this man.

I don`t agree, his facial expresions are irrelevant, the most important thing is that he is really making music!...so just close your eyes.
