  • Real Church sound. Love this song! They are all so unassuming and have always been so.

  • It's Maggie May, and you can sing along, "Maggie, I wish, I'd never seen your face!"

  • They might look like a bunch of rent boy`s but i think they are shithot !

  • it may be lip synched but its still an amazing track off an incredible album, produced by the one and only Bob Clearmountain.

  • Yep, this is a good one.

  • Pop perfection a brilliant gem. Thanks for the upload.

  • Now that's how pros rehearse! Sitting down. "Save the rock moves for the show boys!"

  • Forget about nostalgia, they were shooting for the bright lights of US even in their baby clothes - 'Hot Dog Trailer!" yeah yeah!

  • Just noticed the Skins and Heart logo on Richard's bass drum :)

My favourite song of this album, along with 'Sisters'. Cannot go a day without listening to this band!

  • yes yes yes arrrrrrr those were the days its all coming back now brilliant.

  • Autenticos-Geniales-Unicos.

  • VERY peculiar technique the drummer has for holding the stick in his left hand. (close up at end)

  • i wrote the lyrics to this song on my ceiling in my late teens ( some years back ! ) love steves look to camera at .54. Fantastic lyrics and great memories thanks for posting

  • Lyrically. it seems to be a stream of conciousness thing, image to image. I tried writing like that, but the brew didn't taste good. Could you ever connect it into anything, or just have fun with the pictures type thing. I remember m friends were so distrustful of this band, pouncing on every stylistic mistake, every pretension, and yet they have endured.

  • @mistersmith6000 nice lil comment ...........yes me 2

  • One of the best songs from their first album.

I knew when I discovered The Church when I was 15, they'll be my favorite for the rest of my life.

  • Great song. This and Unguarded Moment are far and away the best I've heard by the Church. The other songs on Youtube I've listened to by them just don't measure up to these two. I had this album in the early 80's and love their sound.

  • @enialbsitruc I'm glad you like these songs it shows you have taste

but quite simply "you're not a Church fan". These are two songs from their

first album - they're great as is a lot of other songs off Of Skins and Heear

but to say their other songs don't measure up is insult (not intended by you I know). Listen some more....Perhaps start with 'When you were Mine'

    and work your way forward.

  • @headmasterritual957 I agree start with 'When you were Mine'. But do go out and buy ''after everything now this" it's a fantastic cd, especially ' the awful ache' superb song you will never get enough of it.

I've been a Church fan eversince The Unguarded Moment song was aired on a local melbourne music show'Countdown'.

  • does anyone ever wonder if this is steve kilbeys youtube account?lol? just me?

  • NAWT!!! Chilean fan

  • me too

  • Would so love to hear this live again. Do they ever still play it?

  • i don't know if it was the air or the breeze in my hair

  • I love this video! It looks as if they're just hanging out, at band practice or something. My uncle showed me a picture of him with Steve in a club somewhere in London from the 80s, he really got me into the Church - amen!

  • The end is one of the best climaxes ever written in rock history, but I love the whole song. All the guys were perfect, but it wasn't Ploog who recorded the drums but Nick Ward. Wonderful playback.

  • truly unique...amazing stuff thanks great post and what an exceptional group of musicians. they work on so many levels, just great to hear and watch them perform

  • As pure as The Church can be, fantastic!

  • Long live Richard Ploog.

  • still gives me goose bumps.

    long life to the church.

  • perfect summer song.

  • Long live.

Soundtrack of the best years of my life.

    Thanks for all the magic.

  • a palm tree nodded at me last night

  • This song is so great. You either "get it" or you don't.

  • Are those Danelectros?

  • Strictly Fender and Rickenbacker my friend

  • This song is so amazing...takes me back to an earlier time in my life when it just seemed "easier." Anybody else?

  • yeah...agree with that

  • Absolutely no doubt about it.

  • OMFG The Church, "HELL YEAH" dude I love the church, THANKS SO MUCH i love like every song,

when I was a kid my bro would play them all the time and so I grow up loving them, actually have their video somewhere.

  • I'd never really heard it before but there's a lot of David Bowie in the Church, isn't there? I mean this in a good way, of course.

  • Yes there is, but there's even MORE T-Rex/Marc Bolan!

  • One of my all time favorite tunes.

    Nice surprise.

    Thank You

  • Very nice clip

    nice solo Pete!

  • Thanks for posting this. It reminds of when I was younger and the world wasn't kicking my tail. Cheers from Raleigh, NC.

  • Well said...me too!

  • thank you so much for putting this up steve. hard to believe how few people have peeped it, but thank god it's here for the few of us who absolutely LOVE it (and you too, btw)!

    cheers from the past!

  • Can't get this tune out of my head. Like 2 see the band play this live nowadays.

  • This has always been one of my favourites too!

  • the greatest pop/rock song ever written and sublimely performed

  • thx for posting this. one of my favs.

  • Man what a great song! I'm going to get my band to cover this...been wanting to play it live forever!
