  • i miss the red rattlers!

  • The last train was removed in 1992!!! What a farce! They should've been removed in 1972! Still well into the 80's Sydneysiders had to suffer riding these bombs, operating from 1926!!! This is because of decades of neglect & abandonment! In the 80's, Sydney's rail system was a circus! Trains were painted different colour schemes, some maroon, some blue & white, lumped in together like a fruit salad! No uniformity! The stations looked like horse stables! You should've seen Macquarie Fields in '83!

  • Perhaps it is a tribute to Australian "She'll be right mate'ness" If it isn't broke, don't fix it. If it is broke throw some gaffa on and right' s rain.

But seriously we Aussies take a while to catch onto new things (having no metro in a city of near 5 million is one of them) internet, high speed rail links, old fart governors.... I could go on and on :).

We are much like Russia in the sense of our tech.

We are much like Japan in our refusal to change and stubbournness.

  • @nommyz : Oh! You are so common!

  • They actually sold most of the carriages to private buyers for as sheds, motel rooms, etc.

  • I stayed in one of the carriages, its now being used as a motel.
