i've heard jessie j sing loads of times. i've seen her live, and she can fucking sing. i've heard her sing off key and in the wrong key occasionally too, it is always because of her ear piece and she can' t hear the music properly. give her a break. she sang 17 songs, 16 really well.
yes she fucked it up. she was completely off key on every note for this song, by a lot. but props for giving a tribute to tlc. shes a good singer and she was probably fatigued after singing all the songs

You can't sing in multiple keys in the same song.... Unless there's a key change, when you're on stage you have what's called an in-ear monitor to hear the other instruments. Sometimes the live mix gets messed up or something and you hear the mix funny which will lead you to sing in the wrong key. This sounds awful. I'm not a fan of Jessie J but she is a good singer, this kind of thing can happen to anyone though, just one of the risks of live performance.

@KayceeSparks Everyone sings in several different keys; that's what you do as a vocalist. But you can't sing in a different key than the band is playing because then you clash with it. She clearly doesn't know basic music theory. Singing in a different key than the music is in goes against certain universal rules in music theory. It's like saying that 2+2=4 in one case, and then 2+2=5 in another... it wouldn't make sense. 2+2 is always 4, and if your band plays in one key, you play in the same.
@KayceeSparks She never sings in different keys...only the ones that fit the song. She just manipulates the key shes in to malisma all over it taking advantage of all the notes it has to offer. You may have mistaken this for her singing in a different key, but that is not the case. In this video though it is very clear that jessie just cant hear the music correctly, as she is singing in a different key to the music, but she is keeping a consistent key in her vocal line, proving she can sing.
I felt so bad for her when she sung this. :( However, she still did a great job that night and this was the only poorly sung song of the night from her.
