if you releast this 3 years ago you might had a chance now is a outdated pos a gm is doomed to die. you should build the ev2 that goes 200miles per charge and no gas and you might serive ??
Dilekz I'm sorry but everything you just said is completely ridiculous. All those new hybrid cars look horrible with their sophisticated "Like earodynamics and composite materials.. Reinvorced aluminium etc etc.." I live in america and want my car to represent that. One day I may have to switch to this type of car and I wont be driving a plastic egg looking car. I want to drive a car that looks like a car for god sake.
I don't get it... it's electric and still that huge!! ... look at the motorbay at the front.. it's HUGE !! ( typical american ).
If those battery's are expensive you have to get your MPG somewhere else... Like earodynamics and composite materials.. Reinvorced aluminium etc etc..
Question.. is this VOLT still made out of stupid old METAL ?? Ugh...
*cough* ev1 *cough*. GM could have made it work back in '98, and i hope they dont fuck it up again. I will buy this car and not lease, its fucking mine if GM decides to "pull the plug" (no pun intended) and screw us over like the did with the EV1.
we will always need oil, whether for tires, or roads, or small engines, we will always need it to some extent. What we can do is drive conservatively, or get an economical vehicle :)
What is the point of only offering it as a series hybrid with 150kg of engine that according to this bloke will not be used by 2/3rds of the population. DELETE the ICE, or at least offer that as an option. Even without putting a bigger battery in it will have better performance and further range just by reducing weight by 150kg.
how can you expect gm or any other car company not to rely on gas-guzzling....do you think that just cause they make this electric EVERYONE will buy it? what about people who dont want a car..who need a truck or big suv? do you expect gm to just drop its whole 'gas' powered line? the answer is no, and the reality is many people will never even consider an electric car.
"and the reality is many people will never even consider an electric car."
Wanna bet. I can't wait for it. And the sooner I can stop buying gas(and my family and friends feel the same), the better. I predict GM won't have any problems selling out the Volt's production run.
You know how GM keeps saying that the battery is the problem. And all those vids that show the Volt driving around. And it makes the weirdest loudest noise. I think they can't even find good engineers to make the electric motor or put all the electric compoents together properly. Since so many people heard about the EV-1 and Cobasys NiMH battery. I bet all the good engineers wouldn't work for GM. So they ended up hiring retards to put the Volt together. Thats why it is taking so long.
Hmm... Sound like GM is planning to pull another EV-1 Lease-only trick on consumers. This guy said; "40-miles a day=15,000 a year what 2/3 of the population drive" that is lease talk there. I personally want to BUY one not lease it., if the purchase option is not available, I'll forget the respect I have for this company and never purchase another GM product as long as I live.
good! they could stand to lose some business. ALl they do is wreck peoples lives, all they offer to people is a fuel source that does not offset the costs of what they are doing to the planet and people.
New market, New technology, you go into those industries.Oil companies can go into alternative fuels and technology industries, like McDonalds is challenging starbucks. You expand beyond your comfort zone for longevity and keeping your business afloat
For commercially practical reasons, full electric or series hybrid cars are the way for near future - like Tesla and this car. Anyhow, each has advantages and disadvantages; in this case the advantage is a long range and possible use of flex fuel. The disadvantages it is still polluting the environment, has more parts than of full electrical car, and still have some performance issues in high speed as of a full electrical car.
they could the volt out this year if they really wanted to. and I wouldn't hold my breath for 2010. they are lying sobs that only understand being shamed greatly in public. we have to keep the pressure on these cocksucking satanists
I do see your point, but I prefer to be a little more optimistic. The auto makers build what the consumer wants. When gas was cheap nobody was pressuring them to build these kinds of cars. Only when people feel the pinch at the pump do they demand more fuel efficient vehicles. It's a 2-way street. I agree, keep up the pressure.
FUCK GM! They had an environmental vehicle, but killed it on purpose. Instead of making America wait until 2010 why don't they just re-release the EV1? GM is full of shit-- they just want to stall as long as they can.
No, they did exactly what they wanted to do. This vehicle goes 50 miles!!!! per charge.. now if you want to go 650 miles, load it up with gas for the on board generator! see now you still need oil changes, oil filters, maintenance and oh yeah.. their buddies in big oil aren't "terribly upset"
Ughhh, I guess .. that given the current status of things.. it is a "step" in the right direction. I suppose if alot of people buy this car compared to say.. a chrystler 300 or wtv then it will have a postive impact. but they need options! pay more to get more battery and less gas! I'm just not satisfied with 50miles range on pure EV, I want 200 miles
If you have a job where you need to drive 200 miles frequently then the EV1 isn't your car. Of course, those who need that kind of mileage account for less then five percent of the population. Most drivers could use the EV1, then rent a car when they want 200 miles AND THEY'D STILL BE SAVING MONEY.

Like that above? I want a Tesla or an X1 Ev by Ian Wright.
Hopefully, they don't murder/destroy/mutilate the Volt like the EV1

Why do so many people choose to use the F word in their comments? Very low class and totally unnecessary

Scam, could have broke the dependency on oil, but they for some reason haven't.

We don't want EVERYONE to drive electric!
We just want a car company to offer an EV on the free market at a fair price without any trick, artifice or scam, which they never have so far done.

My Toyota RAV4-EV plugs in ANYWHERE, goes over 100 miles on a charge (150 in a pinch), and up to 80 mph.
My car is real, GM is a phantasm. They claim it will be produced, but they were liars about the EV1, why believe them now?
liveoilfree 4 years ago 3
GM is a liar. Just barely two years ago, they crushed the EV1. Why do that, if they were going to make another plug-in car?
The EV1 has a fan club, thousands of buyers.
Why is GM suing California to keep CAFE mpg standards LOW?
If they were serious about the 500-miles-for-one gallon VOLT, they would not fear higher CAFE standards.
So, they are lying, still relying on gas-guzzling. Otherwise, drop the lawsuit.

Ok so if this car is sold for around $20,000 I see a major problem here. The Oil companies will go out of business.

It looks nice. I'd rather buy something from Phoenix Motorcars to encourage true innovation but it comes down to availability. And price.
So far Phoenix is ahead.
