Solar energy is not free energy as well. It takes insane amounts of energy to produce these high-tech panels.

Even if you choose to only use energy produced by solar or wind power, you always need nuclear power plants as a backup. Otherwise lights go dark shortly after the sun or wind disappears. There are no facilities yet to store energy for several million people for a few days.
