Hello from China. I really didn't know PL-660 had been sold by now. I have a PL-600. For MW band, I think there are many broad band width radioes in Japan?! So is there a quite significiant difference in voice quality to listen to those radioes with choosing broad band width of the receiver?
@superarticulation Does "broad band width radios" mean " general coverage (LW~MW~SW) receivers/radios"? If so, there're only a few made-in-Japan receivers and radios on market.
Concerning the sound quality of portable radios on market now, I think "Sangean 909X" made in Taiwan is the best so far.
I love Tecsun PL-660 not because of its sound quality but of its Sync AM function and selectivity and sensitivity.
I've uploaded some videos on PL-660, please check them if you like.
@pesnyaozemle OH... It was not the mean I wanted to say. I have a PL-600, there is a band width buttom which can change receiver's band with between 6KHz and 9KHz of AM mode. For example, when listening to MW stations, you can switch to 9KHz band for clearer sound.
@superarticulation Oh, sorry. Indeed, the wider band width of IF filter, the better sound quality only when signal is strong enough. From the view of sound quality, I like Sony ICF-EX5. And I love Degen DE1103 made in China. It's not expensive radio but the sound quality is very good, I think. And again I hear Sangean ATS-909X is very exellent receiver concerning sound quality. Tecsun PL-660 has nothing special about sound quality, I think.
great review cant wait to unbox mine on my birthday only 10 more days
