:o I am putting that motor in my mr2 at the end of august hopefully! wish me luck on my build! hey, if you have any advice to give me on the swap, it would be greatly appreciated :D nice driving man!
wow, how much would it cost to do a motor like this? I don't plan on racing but to work and get a motor like this in my car would be awesome. I already got the car appraised at 6k just on the exterior and engine rebuild
i know what you mean, at first glance it kinda looks like a nissan pulsar i hate to say, and you really can't quite tell it's mid engine. i have an 86 auto, seriously underpowered though i think, but i just found out my valves weren't getting a good seal so that might be a bit of it..
Someone just completed a 2GR-FE swap into a mk2, you're looking at around 10k for parts alone. He did all work himself, but estimated another 10k in labour at only $50/hour rate.
the swap had never been done before in the world so with that everything was done by trial and error. at one point he had to install the engine 3-4 times before he could get the engine mounts right.
I happen To have an 87 MR2 and was thinking of doin an engine swap. I was just wondering How long did it take and if it was difficult?? Or how much did you pay to get it done? I plan on gettting the 3S-GTE
nice, i got an 87, but its auto and the body has a few dings. but i plan to do the same thing. imma sell my auto and get another AW11 then do the 3sgte swap. but money's ALWAYS an issue. lol
doubt it...I don't seeing the second Gen being anywhere close to as light as that the first gen can be. plus he probably gutted it and then made the swap. I donno, I'm still somewhat of a noob but I'm pretty sure lighter + more power then before usually =better power to weight, which is good...right?
lol.. oh well your absolutly right, but mine will kick it in the cool factor xD.. cant beat that ;) because we know the 95 looks way better than the older ver :P
IMO I prefer the sleeper box look of my 88 sc over your *kind of ricey 95* I had to bite my tongue to say it. Many many people like the 1st gens over the 2nd gens
me too @ nitrosx, the 2nd gens looked too much like other cars, whilst the Mk1 was original in its shape. apart from looking a bit like the fiat x1/9 on which it was probably based. Mk1 was lighter as well.
Oh yeah and that wasnt a z06. For one it didnt say z06 on the back and 2 when he first took off and you could see the side there was noz06 badge or side ducts at the bottom in front of the back tire
were is the track at?

MK1 MR2 is by far Toyota's greatest car, the Hachi Roku is obviously a close second.

i can't wait to do that to my AW11. how much would it roughly cost to make all the mods?
NJtriple6 2 years ago
i didnt say its not fast but the guy said 4.6 0-60 with 341hp with a car that weighs about 2300lbs the math doesnt really add up???
macdaddy08 2 years ago
Probably lightened/stripped to the shit.
GazBoffinThe2nd 2 years ago
nope, just a naturally light car with a well tuned motor to back it...
240sxPerson 2 years ago 2
i agree. a USDM mk2 puts down about 200 WHP less and is only a second +/- slower. the numbers DON'T add up
youtoobesucks 2 years ago
341hp
4.6second 0-60 seems like it would be quicker?

200 hours of labor for an engine swap? 5 weeks of a normal work week. What is he doin? Drinking Naty Lite and taking a break every hour?
