  • America - Bad boy haircut

    Queen - Nerdy boy haircut

(He's still fucking hot in both) :D

  • A great voice and a fine singer trapped into a tasteless, overproduced performance that's had all possibility of music systematically removed by a team of soulless expert marketers who know the cost of everything and the value of nothing. This is nothing but product, and I'd like to see it shot through the head and thrown out with the rest of the trash.

And he can actually sing, poor guy. They really should call it "Britain Wrecks Talent."

  • PIĘKNY JESTEM ZACHWYCONA WYKONAWCĄ

MA CUDNY MOCNY GŁOS POWINIEN ZROBIĆ WIELKĄ KARIERE

  • Fantastic. Well done Jai - now go do the West End! :D

  • GREAT PERFORMANCE!!

  • Stunning!

  • Lovely! I also enjoyed the conductor...

  • Amazing. That choir is unbelievable. Anyone know if they have any albums or anything?

  • @oSolitaryMusic They have, They r called Scale and are from the neatherlands.

  • @ubt5wqy It's Scala, and they're from Belgium...

  • omg that guy is awesome

  • What the hell is everyone on about? Jai's an amazing singer and seems like a genuine guy, he performs every song i've seen him sing to a maximum level and so what if he's nervous he's never been anywhere near fame like this before? Conclusion, jealousy.

  • Fabulous voice, it's extremely hard to go out on stage and perform to such a large audience, I learned that many years ago and I gave in. I wish Jai all the best.

  • I'll say it again. This man's voice is amazing!...Great performance!.. :D

  • he is so handsome...and great voice

  • Think some of the comments on here are totally uncalled for.

I was actually lucky enough to meet Jai yesterday in PC World and get his autograph, he was actually quite shy. He's a lovely guy in more ways than one.

Fabulous voice genuine guy, the Royal Variety is a really big deal for someone so new to the business - give the man a break he's a great talent.

  • Not a good song choice for him: took little advantage of his voice, built up to nothing, . And not a particularly good performance either: he should care more about his audience than his own fear - if he did, his fear would disappear. Someone who is involved with him should care for about his career. A performance should not leave you thinking, "The choir was quite nice." Big venue, huge opportunity: He's blowing it.

  • Loved him from the very first audition on BGT. What a voice. BEAUTIFUL!

  • Would not surprise me if Jai was offered to sing in some Walt Disney cartoons. His voice just seems to fit that sort of style so well.

  • I cried, so what :(:( xxxxxxxxxLOVE YOU SO MUCH JAI XXX <3<3<3<3

  • 3 people are justin bieber fans

  • @iflyboy93 No. They're just not letting their hormones dictate their opinion.

  • Damn!! He is amazing. I could listen to him for hours

  • go on the scotish jai lives just round the corner from me pure talent.

  • I want to marry him!!!

  • @memofushi Really. You'll put up with his jitters on the wedding night?

  • very talented

  • dis chap has pure talent

  • when i heard the guy saying transgender, and i was thinking ronan parke was narrowly beaten, i was thinking o.O OMG HARSH

  • Welldone Jai, still cant believe you have a voice like this...

You were always so quiet, humble I guess!

  • @skullkiddy Self-absorbed?

  • @PatrioticGlory Not at all just shy.

I highly doubt a self-absorbed individual would have chosen the career of a support worker?

  • @skullkiddy Most people don't choose their jobs, nor do jobs become careers. But it's far from the point I was making: When one is in fear, or worried about looking good, instead of focusing on the point of their performance, the feelings of the audience, they're said to be "in their head" i.e. "self-absorbed". "Selfish" relates to motive. No one can speak to a man's motives. But behavior-wise, a person with stage jitters only has them because he has not embraced the audience: self-absorbed.

  • @skullkiddy He can be humble after he gives his best. Not instead of. For an example of performers putting their audience ahead of their "humility" and making them part of the performance, put this in your YouTube browser, and observe the joy between audience and performers who are "not in their heads":

/watch?v=Pa58TdbRGJ4&feature=related (Dein ist mein ganzes Herz (Domingo,Netrebko,Villazon) And enjoy.

  • @PatrioticGlory I took your comment the completely wrong way.

I simply thought you were a spammer out to cause trouble, if I had checked out your other comments I would have seen otherwise.

I understand what you are saying now...

  • What a so not right song for him - so many great massive songs he could have killed and they came up with this - why? U2 - never considered for thier voice ranges rather their political references and Irish allegiance - which I think great - but a song for Jai - nah so wrong.

  • @KelticWoman1 I think it was a great choice. I agree the original song was rather boring and bland - but Jai McDowall did a great job at turning into a captivating song. I wanted to like U2's version, but I just couldn't. But this version has me singing along every time I hear it. Maybe you think differently, but I've fallen in love with this song. I think it's beautiful.

  • @StealingMyUsername Jai did it greatly - just, and only in my humble opinion there were many others songs that he could have blasted out but appreciate that if we all liked the same music choices it would be a boring world.

  • @KelticWoman1 That's true. And he would make any song brilliant. He's very talented :)

  • @StealingMyUsername Talented and you know when you see people you would like to know in life for real - not because of their talent, not because of looks, sex whatever, but just someone you think is a good person - that's how he came across - however I would demand everytime I met him that he sang!!! Only joking - have a good one and thanks.

  • @KelticWoman1 I would too! ^^ You too, and no problem :)

  • @KelticWoman1 Sounds to me like a supreme rationalization of a tepid and unworthy performance. A performer has to know what he's doing. Question: So what was he doing? What was he there to cause the audience to feel? No one has a clue, even Jai. But fans will excuse him. If he ever listened to those fans, he'd have a short career. I want him to have a long career. I like his voice, especially when he uses it.

  • @KelticWoman1 I'm going to venture that, if you asked Jai about his performance, he'd say it was not his finest hour. On the other hand, Scala was exceptional. Which made his performance look even worse by comparison. IMHO of course. Don't get me wrong. I'm a fan. I just want him not to short-change his talent nor the audience.

  • @KelticWoman1 Considering his excellent choices on BGT, I think he turned over his song selection to some clueless record company imbecile. And he probably signed a contract giving him that authority.

  • A voice fit to sell out a colloseum in Rome.

  • @DshankumMusic Not if he continues to sing old pop songs unsuitable for his voice that Bono should keep for an oldies tour.

  • I love this performance but the conductor is hilarious

  • This is brilliant, and I think Jai McDowell is fantastic, but I was a little disappointed the Scala didn't perform this on their own, because of the popularity of their version from Downton Abbey, but nonetheless, it is still incredible!

    Thanks for uploading :)

  • @propsnhugs Jai being a winner gave them the chance to perform in front of the queen which they wouldn't have otherwise no matter how good they are - think you need to be a bit more gracious in your acceptance that Jai made there performance possible than the word "dissapointed" - they wouldn't have been there without him - glad they were but get your "words" right - they weren't asked there for them and until the day - they should be glad they were and not be "dissapointed" - member of Scala?

  • @KelticWoman1 Aye, right...ok...

  • @KelticWoman1 Dear Grammar PoliceWoman, speaking of getting one's words "right", do you have any clue the difference between "their", "they're" and "there"? They are different words with different meanings.

  • @propsnhugs I became a fan of Scala from this video. I hadn't heard of them up until now. I had concluded it was a choir that happened to be many times better than the singer it was supporting..

  • Brilliant ! I really think Jai has one of the best Scottish voices I have ever heard. I hope to hear him one day in a duet with Barbara Dickson another Scot. Bravo Jai. Ann in Canada

  • @Paulol100 Not if I'm Barbara Dickson. I wouldn't let him near me if he chooses material like this. And he looks so uptight as if he chooses to care about his nerves instead of an audience that wants to support and enjoy him. Jai, grow up and get a pair. Lose the narcissistic behavior on stage.

  • I still have to say to choice Jai as a winner was a very good vote.

  • @Tjjames1961 He deserved to win.

  • Really good if not a bit over-sentamentalised

  • Scala & kolacny brothers are Belgian! Wooooohooo! So proud belgians perform on the royal variety !

  • <3

  • Awesome live performance.

  • absolutely love it jai, would make a good xmas number one too x beautifully done on variety show...keep em coming x

  • Was this his only performance at the Royal Variety? His voice has gotten so much richer.

  • Really Like the new hair do...this man is so hot.

  • holy shit he got hot.

  • Brilliant! such a great voice, but i have to agree i dont think the actual song realease they have recorded does his voice justice! he is much better singing live like this!

  • What a talent =). Think he's better live then how they make him sound on the official tracks though.

  • Beautiful, just beautiful.

  • That's what I call "pretty face"

  • Hate this shite show, hate that "comedian" prick....'but Jai's scottish, so gets my vote! :) He sings this one pretty good as well.

  • i'm starting to get fuking sick of everybody saying stuff about him cause he's scottish. why is it if ur scottish ur automatically no better than some english cunt, RONAN PARK!!!!!. if i was his dad i would be fukin embarrassed to call him my son the wee gay boy. i'm scottish AND FUKING PROUD OF IT 2!!!!. if most people knew there history the scots invented most of the modern world. ect. the phone. the tv. radar.radio. penicilin(thats saved around 1-2 billoin lifes its endless look it up

  • I don't care if he is scottish.. he has done the world proud!

  • @ben2nd What has him being Scottish got to do with anything in the first place?

  • @Sohoeful Scotland is in Britian you dumb Scottish cunt.

  • why couldnt they just have scala on stage, they were awesome - that guy was just a horrible distraction

  • @purplesamual what have you done today that makes you proud??? NOTHING contibution =NIL

  • @jimmymadoal you call disliking something pride? goodness me what are schools teaching kids these days!

  • I feel sorry for the man That hears the Pipes and is not a Scot............ We have a Presence - the rest are just passing through.........

  • It's not that he is from scotland. He has a calm presence which you want to get more of, a fantastic voice and brilliant arrangements of songs you want to hear. I believe he might be scottish too.

  • What has being scottish got to do with anything? He's a good singer, why should a complete stranger who by pure chance is the same nationality as you make you proud? Someone's race, skin colour, faith or gender shouldn't make a difference to whether they are good or not, and certainly shouldn't make you 'proud'!!

  • Well, the conductor certainly enjoyed himself.

  • love the song so much brings back all the good times and meomerys x

  • This gave me chills.

  • Ronan Parke Disliked this...

  • @tomoze2 why would he dislike this? Jai was great!

  • Stunning performance, it's got that tingle factor. I just Liked his Facebook page cos I enjoy his music, but he posts regularly to update us with news and to respond to comments and questions. Lovely, down to earth guy. I pre-ordered a signed copy of Believe from play as an early Christmas prezzie for myself, and it's superb.
