  • This is a very underated film. Directed by Clint Eastwood. The whole thing ozzes class.

  • The movie is better than the book. The book put me to sleep with the " dripping moss of the Savannah night" and blah blah

  • Amazing vocal. That statue girl looks straight out of the Shining.

  • Best part of the movie... unfortunately, it's all downhill from there...

Sadly, despite Eastwood's track record and Spacey's talent -- and the subject -- Eastwood basically blew this film.

Even the title scene during the voodoo ritual at midnight just lay there and didn't work.

  • I THINK JOHNNIE MERCER WROTE THIS SONG. CLINT GIVES HIM A NOD BY PANNING HIS HEADSTONE.

  • Savannah *is* gorgeous, I live 30 minutes away from it. Read the Book, though, much better than the movie. And I partied with the hair dresser, and Joe Odum was my lawyer. No lie.

  • Tomorrow is the anniversary (May 2,1981) of the shooting in Mercer House.

  • what song is that in the beginning?

  • @kristopherpistole Skylark ... one of the many songs written by Savannah's own Johnny Mercer. The events in Savannah swirl around "Mercer House" where Jim Williams resided.

  • @kristopherpistole Skylark, sung by KD Lang, written by Johnny Mercer .

  • "Quit eye balling me, Flavus. I knew you when you was a two bit hustler on Bull Street." Lol, loved Minerva! And filmsensei, Savannah is the most gorgeous place! I want to move there so bad! But for now I have to settle for vacations there. :o)

  • Ps, that's Bonaventure cemetery if you want to go see the real thing.

  • Gorgeous is an understatement!

  • i live less than a mile from there!!!

  • only 28 that is ridiculous

  • does anyone know where I can go to find information on finding a mansion to live in Savannah Georgia? I just think that it's so beautiful there.

  • This is the best part of the movie --- it was all downhill from here.

Oddly, Eastwood's filming of thr book is so blase, even the title scene (in the cemetary, at midnight, doing voodoo) was so blandly done it was amazing.

  • Great film/Interpretation. I live in Charleston (another old Southern town know for its eccentricity) but I have to say Savannah takes the cake in that area. As they say, we don't hide the crazy relatives down here just stick 'em out on the front porch. Peace

  • i agree! savannah is definitely my favourite place on earth! so enchanting. and i love that the vagrants there will actually tell you if you give them too little money.... :o)

  • wish sum 1 can put whole movie on here!!!!

  • Conrad Aiken is buried at this cemetary. I remember visiting his grave years ago. He wrote one of my favorite short stories of all time 'Silent Snow, Secret Snow'.

Is there a meadow in the mist?

  • @fredfosterx "Cosmos Mariner—Destination Unknown"

  • @MidnightinSavannah You're pretty awesome. That's exactly what it said.

  • @fredfosterx I have visited Conrad Aiken gravesite many times. And i think the story of it is one of the greatest in Savannah.

  • Most enjoyable movie and I loved all the characters, a sense of family?

  • The way they zoom in on that statue never ceases to give me chills up my spine...very cool movie and awesome rendition of Skylark by KD Lang. Some day I will make it to Savannah, I hear it is gorgeous.

  • Please do and you won't be disappointed! The Mercer Williams home now gives tours. Sadly they had to remove the birdgirl statue from the cemetary due to all the "inquiring minds" wanting to gawk at it. It is now in a museum in downtown Savannah.

  • @filmsensei It really is every bit as beautiful as you might think., Went there last October and it felt like roaming a movie set but it was all real. No eccentric characters out on the prowl like the movie but people there are very polite but not severe or judgmental. I hope to have moved there by this time next year

  • I loved this movie - true story and all - what's not to like. Anyway I was disappointed when the reviews didn't give it the praise it deserved. K D Lang and MITGOGAE - both seriously underrated.

  • Best movie intro ever.

  • @fredfosterx I have to agree,a very good movie intro.

  • skylark...

  • A very lovely voice, Miss K.D. Lang

  • This is one of those rare movies where the best selling book and movie are very much the same. I read the book years before the movie came out and couldn't put it down!! When I toured the Mercer Williams home I actually got to stand right in the room where the murder happened.

  • @JoanOfArc14 Don't you mean "the incident" as my tour person told us.

  • Savannah is one of the most beautiful cities in the whole country. If you have not seen it, you must! You can tour the Mercer-Williams home, the first floor. So fascinating! I want to go back and catch one of Lady Chablis' shows.

  • i have 2 unopened copies of the audiobook cd's if anyones interested. they were bought for 14.99 plus tax but I'll sell you them for 5 bucks a piece. Anyone interested, email me. I can send u pictures of them 2 if u like.

  • i love this song and i love this movie watch it every night before i go to bed

  • This is such a beautiful song and I loved the movie as well :)

  • To understand the living, you got to commune with the dead.

  • @xandro83 yup yup!

  • They had so many people visiting and touching the bird girl statue, they had to move it to a museum.

Great movie... Kevin Spacey gave a great perfomance.

  • bad sound but the movie does have a beautiful beginning

  • primates

  • please some one upload the whole movie!!!
