my dream would be to have that lifestyle. i am finally seriously getting into painting and hope to eventually do that for a living. i am more focused on the tonalist approach. if art is truly in your blood than its more painful not to create than it is to create.

Van Gogh didn't paint until he was 30. but once he did he was relentless. his brother was his source of income so he could focus on painting. a great story!

@HilariousHyena You have to be kidding. He is a wonderful painter. Look at his finished work! You need to be kinder and not judge YouTube snippets to be a finished painting. Listen to the helpful tips he is giving. Maybe you had a bad day.

@friar120 If you like boring "looks like any other landscape painting" paintings, sure. Look up the word "trite" and it should show a painting by this guy.

@HilariousHyena I guess it depends upon whether you like traditional landscape painting or not. Have you looked at some of the art magazines lately? Some of them are filled with absolute junk they call art. This man has won awards for his paintings. That says something for his talent not being "trite". I don't think he has stopped growing as an artist. I am grateful he takes the time and makes the effort to share what he knows on YouTube. Do you paint?

@HilariousHyena there are many diff styles. realism can be boring to some as abstract is confusing to others. i agree some realism is passe and too common but i appreciate the skill level and determination to get to that level.
