Ace of Spades isn't class based though. All are soldiers and can do everything :P. But yeah, while Ace of Spades is the competitive minecraft style 3d game, KAG is the competitive 2d platforming and digging counterpart to Terraria.

Really though, KAG seems like it's more like games like Soldat with a building component than it is like Terraria, not to mention the fact that KAG has been in development for longer.

One is an exploration/survival simulator, the other is a competitive multiplayer game. They're built on a similar concept, but in the end they are totally different. Team Fortress and Battlefield are both class-based team shooters, but the scale and the amount of teamwork are absolutely different.

I'm a friend of the guy who did the art for this game, he had no idea what Terraria was when designing this thing. He said quite a few people have brought it up with him. To anyone's interest, he had never even heard of Terraria when making this.

For those that don't know, this was loosely based on the SNES game King Arthur's World from 1993, with the added premise of destructible tile based terrain (which has existed for years) and presented in pixel-art.

Minecraft didn't invent the ability to break and build the terrain (heck, liero didn't and that came out how long ago? 1998?) and Terraria didn't even factor into the design - though we might end up basing our water system on theirs ;)
