the best JRPG out for the 360 is Lost Odyssey (to me) The story was amazing and even the side quest (A Thousand Years of Dreams) was more touching. You should give that a try since it should be less than 20$ at gamestop if you find a copy
PC version fixed or tried to alleviate these problems such as the texture pop-ins and lack of unique leaders, most importantly the BR system was much more manageable. And the lack of control over the moves isnt completely gone but you now have control over what moves you can keep and which ones you can turn off. The PC version is definitely worth a try, at least the demo on Steam. (if your specs can handle it)
Hey NC, have you ever heard of/played Magna Carta 2 on the 360? I suggest checking it out, do NOT listen to the negative reviews. I went into the game expecting an OK story and Ok gameplay, but what I got was an excellent and very dark story, and a kickass battle system. All of the voice acting is incredibly well done, with well known VA's such as Yuri Lowenthal and Jonny Bosch. I alson reviewed it on my channel, but it's a phenomenal game, don't miss it!
Man the guy reviewing this really didnt like this game. Like I'm sure I heard something about him saying that you get random items to fuse together that will probably have a worse/negative result. Truth be told if you upgrade it it wont get worse :P I've managed to get quite a few items to the highest level you can get them and they do become real good. I think the gameplay was just plain boring all the enjoyment was in the storyline which was really good I thought. Also it's alot better on pc.
Took me so long and so many tries to beat him. See apparently there are a few bosses in the game that level up with you, and he was one of them. So he was powerful. Anyway once i finally beat him i screamed at the TV and flipped him off as he was dying.
I really like your reviews Chris, they are informative and often funny at times
Of late though your getting far too confusing in what you want to say, it's almost like you never know which way your going with it, and although this is can be a fantastic technique in making a review interesting I don't quite get that from your videos.
Despite having most ridiculous start up on your videos (seriously I skip it every time its just that horrendous) I like what your doing.
Nah I like the brief bits of story or cut scenes you include. I'm talking about those 2 starting screens (Never reviews & the rate, comment subscribe) and that mutilated music/sound effect that comes on.
Given how you often comment extensively on a game's sound and screens I just found it kinder odd you'd have such poor intro attached to your reviews.
Only my opinion though, its just always bugged me. Will still be watching your work just with a 5 sec skip at the start : )
texture pop-in is the price we pay for Next-gen Graphics on machines that cannot handle Next-gen graphics. It's just like the Wii; in order to have Near-Next-gen graphics, one must optimize the layout and levels carefully. The only difference between the systems is that we expect Flawless next-gen from XBOX and PS3 but not the Wii. So when we see something next-gen on Wii, we are pleasantly suprised even if it's glitchy, but on PS3 and XBOX if the the next-gen isn't flawless, we are appalled
This reminds me of Final Fantasy XII. I spent 26 fucking hours just grinding my way through thegame and story justusing the god damn attack command O_o Not once did I need to use magic or items of any kind! teh battle system was one of the most retarded things ever invented. And was the biggest downfall of what could have been a great game.
There was no strategy at all, just attack and move on, attack and move on.
If I ever have to play FFXII again I will most likely kill myself. Its THAT bad.
I agree. I miss the old turn based system of games like FF7. Also teh stories were far superior as were teh characters. Battle strategy, enemies... pretty much everything actually short of graphics.
But I'd still go back and play FF 1-10 again just to escape all teh crap thats being developed in recent years. And I LOVE J-rpgs O_o So just goes to show how bad the current ones are.
Having said that I am looking forward to the next StarOcean game. Hope they dont fuck it up.

I thought the bosses were fair. I only had trouble with Gates of Hell. The rest, I defeated with only one try, including rares.

To bad they couldn't use the Unreal Engine to the fullest without the lag and stuff >_>.

i think they solud make big moves skippable

I heard the PC version is a lot better, both because it runs better and because it has more content

Chris, did you make it to the Gate of Hell boss? He was unfairly hard.
Anyway i liked this game.
Vash3OO1 3 years ago
Yeah, a lot of the bosses were really hard too.

I liked the game but yeah those little things really annoyed the shit out of me.
Like you had go to the same dungeon 100 times until the boss appears and that's annoying, same with rare items, they're just to rare.
And yeah the lag was annoying even when I installed it to my HD it still lagged.

If you like traditional JRPG's I can recommend Lost Odyssey if you haven't tried it. I'm only 15 hours into the game, but I'm loving it.
